In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Hi folks!

I wanted to share a really lovely bit of woodworking with everyone, but I am also looking for feedback and tips for snake safety!

This "Barrister Snakecase" was made for me in about 2 weeks by my fiancee's grandfather. He said he wanted a woodworking project because he was bored, so I tentatively asked if he would make me a book-shelf style snake rack. I drew up a design, and within 3 days he had the basic unit built.

Over the next week and a half he stained the outside but left the inside natural color for fear of toxicity to the snakes. He also applied numerous coats of polyurethane inside and out to aid in waterproofing.
- I intend use clear silicone to seal the inside seams between wood pieces to prevent a spilled water bowl from ruining the wood.

There are large ventilation holes drilled in one side, covered both inside and out with screen which is glued to removable covers.

He attempted to compensate for the snakes' love of escape by adding child safety latches.
- I need to find a more secure way of keeping my lady balls in as I am fairly certain they will figure out how to push the doors open.

The doors are held up with brass chains so when one swings open, it doesn't smash into the door below it.

He made a small raised platform with a lip to accomodate a 12" x 12" tile, to the underside of which I will affix flexwatt heat tape. The idea was that the tile will spread the heat and provide a nice basking area. The raised platform will keep the heat tape from coming into contact with the varnished wood, as well as keeping it up out of potential water spillage.
- I'm hoping this idea will work, let me know if it seems flawed

There is a small 1/2" hole drilled in the upper mid-rear of each case to allow lighting of the units.
- Any ideas what I should use?

The glass is held in with small strips of wood nailed into the door frame.
- I will put silicone over the tiny nail heads to protect noses

Please let me know if there are safety issues I have not addressed! I'm hoping I will have a safe and stylish new home for my female balls within a week or so of tweaking.

Also - best birthday present ever!

Nice woodwork! You can install cam locks where the knobs are for security.
