    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I hatched out this female that has me a little perplexed. She was from a mojave x exceptional calico pairing. As she ages her contrast just gets better and better, and her melting pattern is very nice.

I'm thinking she's just a really pretty normal? I would love to get peoples' opinions on her. I'm thinking about holding her back because she's so nice.

The first two photos are of her about a week ago. Belly looks normal, not really enough of a blackback to be definitive calico. The last photo I took today next to her two normal half-siblings.

Thanks for your help guys!

Normal, Calicos have several different markers. 1. being their white sides (some are very low white with only a few white scales) 2. They all have a reduced head spot similar to a YB or Fire 3. They express a different pattern then normals. (most have black backs on at least the last third of their body) 4. Some have ringers or patches of orange near their tail 5. they have a clear belly.

Hope this helps!

Jason and Clark, thanks for responding!

Jason, I hatched out several calicos this year that were undoubtedly calicos that had all the traits you've described. However, I've also seen some extremely low expression calicos that look pretty much normal... except for like one or two white scales. Like I said above, this snake just really has me on the fence. It has some but not all of the calico markers, just not enough for me to positively call her a calico.

I'm thinking more and more about holding her back, it's not often that I get a baby that makes me scratch my head like this, and it's hard to market something you're not sure about.
