    =====================

    I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

    So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

    But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

    Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

    I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    =====================
    Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

    And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

Ben Siegel Reptiles?

I've ordered animals from Ben. Great animals and timely service. Just a nice smooth transaction.

No worries for you there.

I have had no transactions with Mr. Siegel personally, however if you follow the link listed below, or in the lower right hand corner of the BOI opening page, type in his last name, and perform a search, you will find a plethora threads. I have emailed questions to Mr. Siegel, in regards to some of his stock, and he or a member of his staff always replied in a very prompt manner. Hope the link and others view will assist you.

At the top of every screen here on Fauna there is search button. Type in Ben Siegle Reptiles (check the spelling of his last name) and do a search.

You will find many, many positive threads about Ben and his business practices. The webslave perfers that you do a search before you start a new thread.

Jon I live a mile from his shop in Deerfield. I wouldn't hesitate to buy anything from him. I have purchased numerous balls, boas, and bearded dragons from him a no problem what so ever. He even guarentee's his animals for a week. He is one of the best guys around to deal with. Definetly go there. I'm in there 3 times a week buying rodents.

Well, I've reciently bought an animal from the shop and I'm battling mites. I just wanted to hear some other opinions. I continue to buy my feeders there too. I'm just not pleased with the mites.

Thanks for the search tips. I used his full name and came up with nothing.

Sorry to hear about the mites, in my experience that hasnt been a problem with Ben, however that is a fact of life sometimes in the reptile trade (not saying its "all good" by any means).

However in my experience with Ben, hes a stand up guy, with GREAT ANIMALS. Ive seen Ben for years now at shows, and dealt with him on and off the whole time.

A++ guy.

We have had a few shipments from Ben & all of the animals have been top quality. All the animals that we purchased were wc & were totally free from both internal & external parasites. Even the full fecals we ran on the new breeding stock were clean!
If you forget to mention the friendly customer service, the timely shipping, & the complete professionalism- you still have some of the cleanest & best established wc's around, and of course all of the nice captives that he sells too.

Sorry to hear about the mites. Unfortunately, mites can happen occassionally in retail stores (rodents/reptiles come in & out and reptile people come in & out) so in that type of environment they can't be completely controlled- like they could be in a closed breeding facility. Mites travel quickly & are harder detect until they are adult sized or in a full blown infestation.
I know Ben sells provent-a-mite, so I cannot imagine that he would not have treated an animal if there was any obvious sign of infestation.

The good news is that while they are a pain-they can be zapped quickly with a can of provent-a-mite. We are fortunate enough to operate a completely closed breeding facility (no rodents that we don't produce ourselves, no other reptile people allowed that aren't hosed off!!!) & we treat all incoming animals with provent-a-mite, while they are in quarantine-no matter who they are from-just as a precautionary measure & have not had any problems at all. There are of course many other products our there to use as well.

Good luck with treating the mites,
Ben will forever be on our good guy list,
Try & give him a call & see if you can pick up a can of PAM, it's always good to have around anyway...

This fall I bought a group of CH female balls from Ben. Excellent quality, all feeding, no mites or ticks. Shipping was timely and excellent. Good to deal on the phone too. Would not hesitate to buy again from him (and probably will).

Kindly.

WC and CH

It seems to me that Ben deals with a lot of WC animals. I'm not sure how I feel about that.

Ben is the man!!

No worries with Ben!!

He is one of the best!! Great animals, and service!!

Highly Recommend!!

It seems to me that Ben deals with a lot of WC animals. I'm not sure how I feel about that.
Alot of people deal w/ wc and ch, as long as they list them correctly, what is the problem??
If this is just a personal opinion on imports, post a thread about your opinion.

Although he can be pricey with his reptiles. Never had to return anything I've purchased from him.If I ever had any problems, I'd hope he'd take care of it, thats what a good rep requires.

As far as having the mites, black knight em to death. If its otherwise healthy, I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Great experiences.

Ben is a great guy to do business with. Bought my very first ball from Ben and have purchased many since. Always professional and fair. Even his wife is a pleasure to do business with.

I have bought from Ben at Daytona the last 2 years and never had any problems. And he has the coolest t-shirts around. And as long as it is listed as wild caught, what's the problem. Any new snake i gets soaked in Reptile Relief just in case it has mites.

Looks like im jumping on the bandwagon lol. I live about 10 miles from his shop and do bussiness with him all the time, Hes a GREAT guy in my book.

thanks

thanks for all the positive posts and replies--not sure what john bought or when, but just went a did a check of our in stock boas
and did not find a single mite-feel free to call us john and we can give you some tips on mite treatment, but if you got one boa from us and now you are battling mites as you put it--there has to be a more viable treatment that would make you battle less severe. As most locals around us to attest, we have 3 full time employees that are either cleaning or selling most of the time, and we treat everything for mites upon arrival---EVERYTHING-WHETHER IT HAS THEM OR NOT-not to say i have never seen a mite at my shop, but rarely and dealt with swiftly-as far as carrying wild caught animals-not getting into that debate-as there are many pros and cons to the debate, but definately importation has much less of an effect on population demise than habitat destruction. Thanks again to our many customers and supporters-Ben

Could boaman Jon possibly be Jesse Underhill? This whole post seems fishy!

No, he isn't. What seems fishy about the post? You shouldn't be so quick to jump to conclusions.

Ben

we purchased a hard to find (at the time anyway) 0.1 black tree monitor from Ben at a show to breed with our male. they are tempermental and most are WC. (They have not been successfully bred in captivity on a consistent basis, there are only a few breeders) this girl was eating and did great. We expect our first CB clutch from our pair Black tree moitors this summer! Thanks BEN!!
