Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them.     Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I just recently purchased a 55 gallon tank from a guy and the tank has lime build up on it where he had kept turtles in it. I have tried CLR on it and a razor blade to scrap the lime off but it seems to not wanna go away! Any1 have a suggestion on what might possibly help us out on removing this :ack2: stuff!
 
Not trying to be a smart a$$ but you should just give up and go buy a new one or you can go buy a 4 x 8 sheet of melamine for $25 and build 1. I dont understand how people think they are saving money when you have to clean something for hours or whatever the case. I have found that it is always better to just suck it up and buy the right or best thing in the first place.
 
well I mean it was a good deal ( it came with a stand and a few needed supplies that were new) it costed us $75. I was gonna call it quits and juts buy a new one if this stuff doesnt come off an just make the 55 gallon the tank we take with us to shows to sell our babies in..more room than a 20 gallon anyway.
 
That was a great deal on a 55 gallon with a stand and defintly worth the time to clean up. I had a 29 gallon with the same stain and i used a brand new razor and a majic eraser. The tank looks like new. I did use about five razors, they dull out quickly.
 
How about that Lime-Away stuff or any products for showers? Many of them are made to eliminate hard water stains.
 
put a mix of Vinegar and water in it for a day or 2 the more Vinegar you put the more it will clean
 
Well we tried the vinegar deal, lemon juice and salt, and the lime away stuff..this crap seriously just wants to stay on the tank glass like all get out! I think we r just gonna go buy a new 55 tank instead of trying anymore...
 
might as well get a tank that is going to last more than a couple of months. a 75-100gal is best.
 
I have had some dragons that have lived for years in a 55 with no problems at all. 75 or 100 would add more room but it's not necessary IMO.

If you can't save the 55 for a dragon you might be able to use it for feeders???
 
Mike has a good idea about the feeders but you might want to try one more thing. I use something called Krud Kutter for anything I need to clean that is nasty. I use it on my grill which has a deep fryer on it and it cleans it all. I have also used it on vinyl houses that have excessive mildew on them, it also brings paint off anything. However I think it costs about $10-$15 a bottle and you might not want to invest anymore money into it. Good Luck
 
Did you by chance try soaking it in bleach? I heard that worked well to get salt water stains out... I think it was soaking it in bleach for 24hrs and then rzr blade it off... if you decide to do it, let me know if it works...
