    I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

    So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

    But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

    Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

    I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Ashtyn RANCE is a Liar and a Crook
So here is the deal, Ashtyn Rance placed an order with a guy I am trying to deal with in Africa. I had nothing to do with the deal arrangements and in no way directed Ashtyn to this guy. They worked the deal out completely independent of me. After the deal was done, I was asked to help and clear the import and forward it to Ashtyn in Florida. I have imported in the past and had no problem with it as long as they covered the cost of everything. While clearing the shipment, a snag was encountered because Air France would not accept credit cards telephonically which was how Ashtyn was supposed to pay the freight charges. After some talk back and for with Ashtyn, I fronted the money on my credit card and he would pay me via paypal. I know, crazy me, but I was concerned about the welfare of the animals. Anyway, moving this shipment went well and Ashtyn DID pay me for the shipping.
A short while later, Ashtyn sets up another shipment. Same thing happens. The one problem we have here is that the supplier in Africa is a bit flakey to say the least, we get notice of shipment at the very last minute so preplanning is a bit difficult. Anyway, same issue – Air France doesn’t know the freight charges until they receive the paperwork plus again they do not accept credit card payment via the phone. Since Ashtyn did right the first time, I figured I could trust him the second time, remember I have nothing to gain from these deals, I am just helping a fellow herper out.
So I front Ashtyn the money and pay Air France for the freight charge and move the animals to him in Florida via Delta. Ashtyn receives the animals and tells me he needs to sell them at an upcoming show before he can pay me back. Until then he does send me $400 of the $1463 that he owes me. After a while I ask Ashtyn for the rest of my money, same excuse, that he needs to sell some animals at another upcoming show and then he will pay me. He promises to pay and he repeatedly tells me he has never screwed anyone over when it comes to reptiles and he never will. Well guess what….. Ashtyn has screwed me over. He has ignored my emails and texts requesting the money and he has ignored my phone calls, recently, he answered the phone and hung up on me.
I have attached a few of our texts confirming that Ashtyn knows he owes me the money…..
You try to help a guy out and he turns around and screws you.
So beware of ASHTYN RANCE, the guy is a lying thief !!!!!!!
He lives in Florida and does business all over the south east.

and on Facebook, the guy with the beard and his profile pic is him in a red tank top...... you found him.
Not sure where the Michael Gherman came from, but I know in his original emails it came from that email name. Probably a way to hide his true identity during other scams.

Sad part is the guy could just pay me and everything would be cool, but I help him and he screws me.

He has been notified, I sent him a message via Facebook. Up to him if he chooses to ignore it.
The shipment was last summer. He's been playing the "let me sell some animals at the upcoming show and I'll pay you then" game for a while as well as been ignoring my contacts so I've finally had enough.
 
He lied to me once to get what he wanted. I traded him a monitor for MUCH less than it was worth because I wanted it to go to a good home. I was more concerned about that than the cash. He told me he had a great cage setup for it and blah blah blah. That he'd always wanted one like that as a pet. He swore he'd take such great care of it. So I traded him. Again, doing so, I lost out on several hundred dollars, but he sold me a great story. Two days go by and I find out from a mutual acquaintance that Ashtyn contacted him and others trying to sell it for more than I originally was asking! Eventually, he did sell it. I've told this to a few different folks at local shows and I get the basic same response from everyone. They roll their eyes, kinda laugh, and say something along the lines of, "yup, that's Ashtyn. You can not trust anything he says." He's the perfect example of why it's hard to trust folks within this hobby.

now that I'm seeing this and you see his side to this, first off terry ripped me off with the last shipment he brokered for me . the first 2 came in great. the 3rd one which he is referring too that he stole a box off the shipment and didn't tell me about it, I found out later through the exporter who said he will deal with terry, so I let it be.as far as a monitor I bought off of this guy . don't remember what your talking about but maybe if you came u to me and asked instead of running around to everyone else then you could of heard the real story. and as far as the spur thighs , I have some one looking for that many, not for me.
 
If you post your corroborating communications, that would be helpful for backing your side.
 
Come to you with what? You lied. End of story. And with regards to how others came to know about it. The people in question actually asked if I still had it. I replied that I did not. Which then led to the discussion about the transaction. The way that most discussions went is that none of them take you serious. They know you'll do whatever it takes to get what you want. Heck, this entire thread backs that notion up. If you don't want your name brought up in negative light, don't do such scum bag like transactions. Why would I come to you to discuss it? You lied once to me. Why would I believe anything you say afterwards?
 
It's sad because I did the trade with you because you seemed like one of the good guys. But I was wrong.
 
Now that I asked about that monitor was somebody that was the mother that you approached me and treated me and I turned everyone down buying it I ended up giving it to a friend that lives down the street from me that has it because you couldn't take care of it so don't go on here running your mouth about something and lying about it you traded me for a golden child head albino reticulated python did you forget that
 
No......you seem to have a delusional memory. I never said that I could not take care of it. I said the reason I was looking to sell it was I wasn't giving it the amount of time/attention they require to stay tame. It doesn't matter that you gave it to someone. The point is within a day or so, you tried selling it. I doubt you remember based from your comments, but I traded you because I thought you'd give it a good home. But I had someone with cash that day wanting to buy it. But I thought you would take better care of it. Guess I was wrong. Now, I'm glad to know someone has it and I hope it's doing well. But the point is, after saying you wanted it as a pet and sold me on the setup you already had for it, you tried selling it. i won't drag others into this, but one of them called me right after getting off the phone with you. Now folks are reading this not knowing what the truth is and that's fine with me. You've proven your character to me by lying that day to me and then lying on here claiming that I couldn't take care of it. Everyone at that show that knows me knows that I am fully capable of doing so. I hope you resolve your current issue with this other gentleman. Because reputations take a long time to develop in a positive light but take only a few negative events to destroy it. I hope you get better business ethics. Good luck and take care.

I'll keep it clean in this forum but Rance is lying through his teeth. I only helped move 2 shipments for him. First one went fine, second one he screwed me. There never was a third shipment. I have all the paperwork for both to prove this fact and so does the government (I have to file entry on international shipments). I would like to see what he has to prove a third shipment. Ashtyn, if your gonna lie at least pretend you know what you are talking about, lol.

Also, the shipper in Africa and I still chat. He told me that Rance never paid the balance on the reptiles shipped, so not only did Rance screw me, he screwed over the supplier as well... but that's not my battle. I only want whats owed me for the fronting of the freight charges.

Finally, what a joke, the crook is trying to accuse me of stealing !!!! If I had done that, why would I waste my time trying to get my money back and if this is true, why is it that Rance has never brought this up until now when he is trying desperately to save his own worthless face !?!?!?. I can easily provide the shipping documents which would prove the number of boxes which I sent to Rance is the exact same number of boxes which arrived from Africa. These documents also have head counts. I'm sure I could dig up some more text where Rance confirms the animals all arrived as promised, he never mentioned being short any animals.

Plus, if I wanted any of those animals, I would have just had the supplier ship me some, I still have $2000 credit with him. I thought that Rance would be a regular customer for the Supplier, business for him would be beneficial for me in getting the animals I want/ need, why would I screw that up by stealing some worthless animals?

Ashtyn, just be a man, quit lying and pay your debts. You only look more foolish.
 
Well first off, the first guy that started freaking out made no real sense and should probably be disregarded due to lack of any kind of evidense ot back his claims.
second, yeah it looks like ashtyn rance had painted himself into a corner. He does not even deny shorting the OP. I would be absolutely amazed if anyone deals with this guy after reading this thread even if he did give the dude his money (which he most certainly wont )
 
Terry, name the shipper. Otherwise, it would be anonymous third-party quotation.

To all, any supporting documentation that can serve to support your version and refute another version of retold events is probably a good thing to provide (via attachment function) if you have it.
 
Also to all -

Watch it with any derogatory names or manners of address. We have some borderline stuff going on and I would rather that border not get exceeded.

I'd rather not draw others into this, like I said, that's not my battle. I'm just trying to get what is owed me. My main point there was that I am still dealing with the supplier and if I had stolen a box and jeopardized his business, why would he even talk to me.
My apologies if it was a third party quote.
