In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

i should have known better than to buy a snake from someone who registered to kingsnake less than two weeks ago.

the ad said 450g female ball python. what i got was a 300g snake. right after i received the snake i noticed he was selling 300g females for $80 shipped on a new ad on kingsnake. i had just paid $115 shipped for my 300g female from a previous ad he posted.

i asked for a refund (even offered to pay for shipping) but he refused saying he didnt refund for weight or sex. i wouldnt be surprised if this snake was a male.

anyways his name is Robert Statton and he ships from las vegas
he has a couple posts on kingsnake right now.

not to harp on the guy because the pic quality is low, he also has an "unusual hypo" advertised on ks currently, and it does not appear to be a hypo in the pix..again I must add, the pic quality is poor.

Although I understand your frustration and I also agree with what Randy just said, this is what I think.

First of all I know nothing of this person/company so I personally don't think it is fair to say one should not buy from someone just because they just signed up on Kingsnake. That would mean that even all the good people out there (not saying they are not) should never be bought from because they just startetd a Kingsnake account. What if they (anyone) has had an acct. for years but never sold anything? Would that be any different?
People can charge anything they want for a snake. Companies have speacials all the time on items/products. That does not mean (unless they advertise differently) that we can go insist on a refund because they are now selling it cheaper. We the consumer could have purchased form anyone. You chose them. I have sold hypo boas ranging from $500-$1000, even for the same age. Many things come into play when pricing a snake.
I do agreee that the remark you got saying they do not refund for mis-weighed animals or mis sexed animals would throuhg up a red flag. I would also think that is you indeed purchased an female and it turned out to be a male, that you culd take action and get a refund or swap it out for a female. Only problem there is you might have to take it to a Vet and get it in writing from a Dr. that is is indeed a male.
You both entered into a 'contract' of sort. You agreed to buy as well as they agreed to sell you a female ball python. Only thing is there, you would have to have the emails to prove this as it would be your word against theirs if it were on the phone and would be tough to prove on either side.

Just my thoughts and ideas.

i didnt say dont buy from a person that just registered. but you have to be extra careful when a guy registers on 2/14 and you buy a snake less than a week later.

the guy said it was a 450 gram female and it was not. that is an all out lie.

he did not tell me he would not refund my money if it was not the snake he described till afterwards. i have the emails to prove it.

you cannot say you have a 2004 car for sale and sell someone a 1994. if it was indeed a mistake like he said it was he should at least refund the money back to me. i was going to cover the shipping myself.

according to his refund policies he can go on the classifieds and say he has 2000 gram females and ship out babies. its total bs i think.

anyways its only 115 bucks so i will take no further action. i just want people to be careful purchasing from this guy. you might not get what he says youre getting.

if it is a male, ill let you know.

I agree with the possible misrepresentation.
Not to make excuses, but it could have been something as honest as not "zeroing out" the scale after putting a container on it before putting the snake in it.

I agree, advertising a 2000g female and sending a baby would not be too cool. On the other hand, it is up to us to read these policies and educate ourselves regarding the people we are buying from. I protect my investment all the time. I ask LOTS of questions regarding things like this that can come up when buying a new snake.

The gentleman, Tony, who has just started a post about me a couple down form this was a CLASS A buyer. If I culd show you the detailt hat he went in to (via email) before commiting, you would be amazed. This was only to be followed up by a 35-45 minute phone conversation after he sent me the money (before I shipped) about even other things. He was protecting himself and his money. I compliment him and I wish everyone would do this. I think if that were the case, this webpage would have half the posts on it compared to what it does. Not that there will not be people who 'scam' others, of course there will be, but it would reduce many misunderstandings because people did not ask about things like this or did not read the TOS of that particualr company.

The above is directed to the people as a whole, not just you so please do not take it personally!

i didnt take it personally
i just want people to know he is not shipping out what he is advertising.
ive never heard of a breeder/dealer making a mistake like that and not refunding. what has he got to lose?
well now he lost his credibility with me and i hope with others when they read my review.

Will the snake wieght change drasticly with a feeding?

I agree you should get a Female that for sure. You ordered a female so you should get a female, bottomline.

Above is a link to a thread I started on this guy recently.. there's another one on him today.
I highly doubt that animal today is a hypo.

This person is obviously very unknowledgable - he had posted what looked like a colombian boa as aa 4 foot peruvian longicauda ready to breed!

he also posted a 2.5 foot long boa and said it is eating THREE LARGE RATS A WEEK, and MORE if he would let her!

IMO, there is no reason to buy from him - no question ...

Just my $.02

Will the snake wieght change drasticly with a feeding?

Not with a 300 g ball python. Even if she was fed 2 large mice at 20g a piece that would still be 40g for a total of 340g and not 450g. On the other hand who would weight the animal right after feeding and use that weight in an ad?

Regards.

I emailed Prohypo

and asked if they guarantee the sex, the weight, and that they are CB and eating. Prohypo wrote back, " I guarantee the sex, weight and CB."

thats funny i got this reply

when i can ship her back to you.

There are no refunds or returns on animals, unless it is to arrive dead and I am contacted at time of delivery. Or if an animal is sent ill or aquires an illness with in 48 hrs of recieving. There are no refunds due to color change, missexing, weight, lenght, or temperment. Thank you for your time.

Mr Reid,
can i have a copy of the email he wrote you so i can ask him why he changed his policies?
