In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I recently had the 'pleasure' of doing business with a scammer. I answered an add that a Sidd Sheppard had on Fauna Classified and agreed to purchase an adult female Amel Corn. I sent out the money order overnight as I told him I would and he was supposed to ship the next day (Wednesday). I asked him to send me the shipping number, he didn't get her sent out on Wed. and wrote telling me that he would send her out on Thursday. I received no emails from him since. No shipping number on Thursday - no snake - and no answers to my emails or my phone call.

Also I noticed on Friday when I went to Fauna to look at the info on his add that all his adds had been removed.

This is the email Sidd sent me when I asked for his info because he wanted me to send the money order to a different person. He had said in his add that he needed to sell a few snakes to pay a debt. So I figured he wanted me to send the money dirrectily to the person he owed so I told him I didn't mind but I wanted to know what his address and number was before I sent it out. This was his reply:
..............
Look me up on Fanna, where you found my Adds, you can see I do exaclly what I say I will. Now them My phone number is 503-788-1942, and My address is 4133 s.e. 64th ave, Portland Oregon 97202.
...............
And he gave me a link to a BOI about him being a good guy:
http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=15365
So I looked up the thread and everything seemed above board. Now, however, I have no snake, $150 gone and nothing heard from Sidd.

This is his e-mail telling me he would send out the snake. He had thought that I had put the wrong zip on the overnight MO and sent me this e-mail:
.............
That is the wrong zipp

You need to fix that NOW 78741
..................
(he didn't even sign this one he seemed to upset.)

when I wrote him telling him that the tracking was showing the zip where the main terminal was that it was dropped at, he checked it out and sent this reply back (because he was supposed to have sent the snake out that day)
(the number is in reference to my overnight MO)

Regretfully, too late, I found how to search for people on the web. what I found was not good.
And this is what I found on a search in the white pages on line on Friday after a friend told me how to look someone up:
Sidd Sheppard Your search has returned no results.
No data matched your search for "4133, S E 64th Avenue, Portland, OR".

Your search has returned no results.
No data matched your search for "503, 788-1942". This number is a Portland, OR based phone number, and the registered carrier is Qwest Corporation

Need Help?

Well, I put in the address of the person whom I sent the money order to, figuring maybe I could call them and find out something. Well to my surprise this is what came up.

Funny thing is I would never have sent a money order out to a PO box, ever, but since this was a street address I assumed this was above board and was the person to whom he owed money. Well, was I supprised when I found that I sent it to a DRIVE THRU POSTAL.
So I called this Drive Thru Postal and spoke to a man. The person, Mari Ellis, rents a box there and the man put a note in her box telling her to contact me. I have not heard anything from this Mari Ellis though and really don't expect to.

And to beat all, Mari Ellis never even signed for the overnight - this is what the tracking showed:

I realize this wasn't a large loss of thousands of dollars but to me it is a lot of money. It was an expensive lesson that won't ever happen again.
I am going to see if I can do anything about this but I doubt it.
Maybe it seems like I am jumping the gun here since I was supposed to receive the snake on Friday, but if he were intending to send her out and just couldn't do it Thursday, seems to me he would have e-mailed me to let me know.
So, beware of this man.

That was sure a bit of a complex story about Sidd. Now don't get me wrong, I am not saying you made it up, nor am I saying it is not to be expected. In my opinion, any story relating to Sidd would probably be perplexing, and I refer you to the link in Alvaro's post above about a thread that Sidd started here on the BOI.

Sidd started a thread complaining about heartless New Yorkers. He apparently sent a snake to someone who paid him in advance, but the snake never arrived at the buyer's location. Then Sidd, in my understanding, did not make a prompt refund to the buyer, one Mr. Brown. Sidd called Mr. Brown a heartless New Yorker for wanting his money promptly refunded, and for not wanting another deal from Sidd on another snake, and for not understanding that Sidd was hampered in making a refund because of the untimely passing of a loved one. Sidd got a lot of opinions saying he should have refunded the money sooner, and should have shipped the snake (a venomoid cotton mouth) by acceptable methods instead of how he had shipped, and so forth. (My opinion of what happened if I understood it all correctly.)

NOW, I am almost willing to bet that I now know where Sidd got the $150 to repay Mr. Brown, if I recall correctly. You say Sidd told you he owed money to someone else! You said, your payment was received on March 26th, if I read your post correctly, and Sidd sent out $150 to Mr. Brown on March 27th. Could it be a coincidence, sure it could be one - but it has me wondering: Would Mr. Brown have gotten his money back, when he did (if he did) if you had not bought (or at least paid for) a snake from Sidd when you did?

I guess if the payment from you had gotten to Sidd, let's say a week later, then it is possible that Mr. Brown would have been paid his due a even week later than he actually got paid (that is of course if Sidd actually sent out the money order).

Go to the link supplied by Alvaro to better understand what I am talking about.

I guess the bottom line for me would be, in my opinion, based upon what I believe were the convoluted deals that have taken place, I would avoid Sidd for any deals on herps that I would be a party to. You have to make up your own mind if you would deal with him again - but I think you have done so already. Next time, you can check on the BOI first. You would have likely seen the thread started by Sidd that explained the other deal, in my opinion, gone bad.

Best regards,
Glenn B

Yes, Thank you

Yea, hindsight is the best sight. I learned from a mistake that will not be repeated.
So, now if I can find this Mr. Brown and ask him for the proper address, maybe I can keep after Mr. Sheppard till I get 'my' money back.
But I have my doubts I will ever see either money or snake.
Well, there are plenty of 'good' people out there to deal with and I will certainly stick to them in future.:(
Lesson Learned,
Dianne Bolognani

Mr. Brown's address is posted on the other thread started by Sidd about Heartless New Yorkers. It is on the second page on a copy of a money order that Sidd posted therein.

I am not all that sure I would appreciate someone posting my name and home address on the BOI like that or anywhere on a forum, but I guess you could use that to contact Mr. Brown. He may be quite sympathetic to your plight and give you the info you seek.

Good luck,
Glenn B

Dianne,

Hopefully you will be able to get in touch with Mr. Brown. All his information is in the public records.

Thank you

Alvero & Glenn for your help. I will try and contact Mr. Brown and see if he has any info to help me.
I keep thinking in the back of my mind that maybe Mr. Sheppard will come through with his side of the deal and that I am just jumping things, but after seeing everything I don't hold up a lot of hope.
Thanks again,
Dianne Bolognani

I agree with Glenn...

Now...who is Sidd going to scam or cheat to get the money to pay Diane back?

Terri Manning

I hope you did not think that I was implying Sidd has cheated anyone. Sidd will probably, as far I my guess goes, send Diane that snake. I just find it amazing how he was so ready to point the finger at others when his business dealings are, at least in my opinion, rather questionable and rather irresponsible.

Being that the M/O from Diane was received on Wednesday March 26th, Sidd possibly had two days to send out the snake by next day air. The thing is though that while Wednesday and Thursday are good days to ship, Friday is usually a poor day to ship. This is because many companies do not deliver over the weekend. So if there was a screw up then he may have been forced to wait to ship on Monday in order to assure next day delivery. This would be better for the snake, to help make sure it does not sit around on a loading dock or in the back of a delivery truck over the weekend. Of course, I believe the screwup, whatever it was should have been avoided, and that the snake should have been shipped on on the 26th, the day the money order was received, or if not feasible then on the 27th which was the next day.

Best regards,
Glenn B

No, I don't think you implied that Sidd cheated anyone...

I think HE has made himself look like a scammer. I honestly hope that he isn't. I hope he intends to send Diane's snake to her. If he does, then he needs to respond to Diane's attempts to contact him...either through e-mail or phone.

His actions will speak for volumes...

Terri Manning

Well,

I e-mailed the lady, Sara Eyre, that had written the 'good guy' post on the BOI that Mr. Sheppard had refered to. I asked seeing as she had done a transaction with Sidd, if the home info he gave me was correct since it was coming up as 'unkown' on a net search. She kindly e-mailed me back stating that the info was indeed right and was surprised about what had happened. So he did give me his right address, phone no. etc. Sara has offered to try to get in contact with Mr. Sheppard to find out what is going on.

I don't know if this will do any good, but at least I do know that he gave me the right info, so I can call and leave a message for him or two. I would be happy if Sidd would kindly get in contact with me and let me know how he wants to rectify this. He kept in good contact all the way up to Wed. afternoon when he got the MO. I would appreciate hearing from him again.
If you read this Sidd, call me or email me. Let's get this fixed.
Thank you,
Dianne Bolognani

Update

I just wanted to let everyone know that I received the snake today. Sidd had sent out the snake via Airborne on Thursday last week but never emailed me the tracking number, probably because he was not supposed to use Airborne. I had told him they were not good on delivering here (I had one hung up overnight in Jan. through them and one I ended up going up to the terminal 2 1/2 hrs away to get so it wouldn't get stuck overnight because they hand everything that comes through them over to USPS for the remainder of the way) and he had told me that he had had a bad experience with them. When I found out last night that he had shipped her out last Thursday Airborne and that she was now in the USPS hands since last Friday I was shocked. And knowing that our weather here was in the teens for two nights I was very upset and prepared for a dead snake. But to my surprise and relief, when I opened up the bag she came right out onto my hand. I put her in a warm viv and gave her a full dish of water, she drank a lot then checked out her surroundings.
Even though Sidd did indeed send out my snake, I would not deal with him again. He did not send the snake the way we had agreed, He did not email me the tracking number(if he had and I had known he used Airborne I would have gone after her like I did my other one), He did not get in contact with me when I emailed him and called him letting him know that I had no snake and where was it (apparently not concerned about its welfare).
I am totally thrilled that she arrived alive though!!!!! I couldn't believe it.

Diane,

Glad to hear of your fortunate outcome. I say "fortunate" because it seems that was nearly a "pure luck" situation since Sidd did little, or nothing, to make certain that animal got where it was supposed to in the correct manner!

However, I wonder if you had sent him a U.S. Postal Money Order? If so, and he hadn't come through on the deal, the USPS treats such as mail fraud. It is always good to have Uncle Sam on your side when someone is trying to scam you.

Of course, that is just for future reference. I realize that Sidd did eventually send you the snake.

Even so, Sidd is one who is definately on my "never to do business with" list! Heartless New Yorker, Sidd? More like another ticked off customer!

Yes, Darin

I did send a Postal MO and no I didn't know that if I didn't get her that USPS could be contacted for mail fraud. Thank you, I hope I never need that advice though.
And one thing I will say in Mr. Sheppards behalf is that the snake is fat, healthy and appears to have been well cared for. I just wish he shown as much concerned about her welfare in shipping.
