In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

blazzing blizzards?

I am glad I didn't ever blow a couple of grand on a "hot new morph" 2 years ago because it would only be that much longer before I actually made the money back and I can't imagine it would look any better than the 40 dollar one I can pick up at the next show or on the internet today. Food for thought.

Good point, Frank, and I see what you are trying to say. However, when investing in a high end morph, you have to have some vision and look into the future. My initial $1100 investment for a male Mack Snow in early 2005 has already paid for itself many times over, and I do not mean only financially (although it has). I crossed him into every morph female I had, and this year I have produced several Snow Bells, Snow RW's, Patties, Super Hypo Snows, Blizzard and even a Super Snow RW. There is much potential in all of those!

I believe I spent $1200 on my very first Hypo Carrot Tail group, in 2000. I crossed them into all my nice tangerines, my Bells, my Rainwaters, and was the first to hatch a Bell Hybino and probably the first to hatch a Rainwater Hybino. I could go on, but I don't want to bore you! I promise I'm not bragging or anything, I am just saying you have to look past the mindset of: buy a morph - make more of the same morph to sell and start thinking: buy morph - make new morph(s) to sell, and make even more new morphs from those. When you start looking at it that way and then set a goal, when you meet that goal, it is all worth the money spent!

ummm ok are u saying that i shouldnt breed leos? as i said before im not breeding for money but the money is ok. im breeding cause i want to for fun.

I don't recall anything in my post encouraging anyone not to breed leopard geckos. If you would like to point out where you think I did, please be my guest. As far as you breeding for fun, that's great! I know I enjoy doing it, and the small amount of money I do make from it goes towards acquiring newer morphs that I like but do not have and, of course, crickets and melaworms. As far as YOU breeding for money, well, I would hope you received some special dispensation from the state you live in to obtain a TAX ID. The last time I checked, a LEGITIMATE (aka REAL or LEGALLY Registered)business needs one and I am not aware of the age restrictions in your state. I am sure your mom or dad could get one for you if you are serious about it. :raspberry

I am all about setting and meeting goals, and I think you do well for yourself in your business. I was referring to people whose only goal is to make cash off the next best ting and move on to the next without enjoying the actual process of breeding and we both know that's not what you are about. :)

LOL, true, sometimes I think if I WAS all about that I would be making a lot more money. But it's all about the excitement of seeing the new hatchlings every year for me, you can't ask for anything better than that.

In Illinois i think yo only need one of you make over $600.00.

Frank- i can see your point-many people have hopped onto the Leo band wagon buying the hottest morphs wanting to make a quick buck and some of these people have never even kept reptiles before
Unfortunately i believe that this happens with all types of animals
I agree that if you do not appreciate the beauty and specialness of the animals involved and have a love for them in the first place then that is really a waste and the animals usually end up suffering for it.
If breeding them is only done with the financial aspect in mind and you have not become known as a reputable person with healthy animals to do business with than you are most likely going to be disappointed with the reality of your anticipated sales and profit .
There are just so many beautiful new morphs on the market from long established breeders to compete with and it never is just about the dollars and cents when we are dealing with living creatures
I don't see anything wrong with a person new to Leo breeding to want to make a profit on their babies-i wish everyone luck in that endeavor but when you add up the cost of the animals and their care-vitamins-feeders-vet visits/checks etc-as Marcia from GGG pointed out in one of her posts- it really isn't a very large profit especially if you add in the countless hours of your time spent in caring and fretting over them

Kelli- The many hours of blood sweat and tears that you(and many others) have put into your Leos in addition to the financial investment are what makes them so very special and the love, care and concern is very evident in the babies that are produced
Many new "hot morph breeders" soon sell off their animals because they are not prepared for all the things that go into their care
I think that it was commonly thought by many people looking to "get rich off Leos"- to just throw a male and female together and sell the babies and makes lots of money
NOT

Josh- As long as you have a love for the animals-which it certainly sounds like you do-that you should breed for whatever your favorite morphs are
As long as you already have a market for any babies and they are healthy then you should have many years of enjoyment from breeding
I also love the blazing blizzards-i would dearly love one with red eyes-LOL
Ok- I've rambled long enough
just my 2 cents

Sandy
