    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I have an 04 Female hogg, she is appx 48" and weighs 2lbs 10 oz or 1.2 kg. Would it be safe to breed her this year or should I wait until next year? I guess I'm being impatient.lol I'm thinking she needs to be heavier. Thanks

Seems like a little bit too young and light to me. I personally feel that you should wait until the female is at least 3 years of age. I have never had a breeding sized female hogg before but if the general rule of thumb for Colombians is 3 years and 10lbs, your female, at under 3lbs seems a little light despite the fact that hoggs reach a smaller full grown size than Colombians do. I have heard of Central Americans going at 30 months but you will probably find a concensus among the more experienced breeders towards waiting that one extra year.

Thanks Alex, I figured she was too small, but there are allot of people here with more experience than me, so I figured I would ask. Take care.

Not just too small, but too imature IMO. You want to make sure she is mature, so you have a healthier litter, and better for her as well. People say 3 years is OK, I say wait till four years for the boas sake.

Weight is a proportional thing, not a set weight for breeding. A mature female should have enough bulk on her to support gestation, and possibly 4 months or so of not eating. My girl is 8 ft, and 22 lbs. I was skeptical about breeding her this year, cuz she is 4 lbs shy of last years breeding weight. She lost 10 lbs during gestation.

More to it than just "3 years old and 10 lbs." a 7 ft female who is only 10 lbs is underweight, and may not support a breeding. It could cause her demise actually. Don't take all that you read as gospel. Some are in it just for the money, and grow there snakes faster to get them to breeding size. But it robs them of a healthy life. You have to sort through the BS so to speak.

Good luck on your ventures.
Rick
