In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Briar Patch Herps, False Advertising

I agree Andy. My experience with the FRT's is from your same POV. I have had several FRT and I always have kept them in with my aquarium fish. I have several higher dollar fish nothing too extreme, but 50$ and a little higher up. My FRT's have bnever attacked my fish. Yes if there is a weak dying fish hanging at the top they will go over and finish him off but I have never seen a FRT attack a fish. BUT I also have never had Sting Rays etc in the same enclosure. I think it wouls be stupid to put a Stinr Ray in a tank with anythinf Exept other Fresh water stingrays. StingRays can be very lazy and hang out in one spot especially not on feeding times, which makes them suseptable to being picked on by anything. They are protected in other countries 90 something percent are most likely smuggled in and yes I agree that it's up to who looks into a case when any decisions are made if they are to be kept or not. The one thing that I feel that wasn't really said was the water quality should be superb and also there should be no rough edges in the talk let it be rocks or logs. I don't think any false advertisement was done here on his behlaf. Sure I bet he's made some un wise buisness choices in the past but I don't see any wrong doing in the ad. BUT heck everyone has the right to thier own opinions and everyone has thier own opinions thats what makes this site great, if only one person had the right idea than this world would suck and no one would learn anything. I think it's good that it was brought up on this site only because someone was in doing something wrong, but I also think alot of people jumped on the bandwagon way to soon, if you don't like them thats fine, but some people agreed with others not even knowing the FRT etc. By the way I feed my FRT's reptomin, gammaraus pellets, gammaraus, differnt odd and end commercial foods, and also a wide aray of fruits and veggies, and yes the occassional sickly fish goes into the mix but it has usually been dead for a little while before that happens, same falls true with the podocs.
Thanks
Vic
PS This is only my opinion and I have no feelings either way on BPR just the thread itself :) oh and the pic is MINE

Guess you didn't read what I linked to, nice little post about a FRT destroying a nice motoro. :(

I don't know that clown, don't have any ax to grind. Also, I don't sell turtles so there is no business reason I would be interested in him.
I did read it,but with too much relavant info not there,it chalked it up to a guy who fed his fish and not his fly.

For the record,Wayne Hill, owner of the Daytona show,a known turtle guy, keeps four 12 year old 12-13 inch Flyrivers in a common setup.Agression issues?Rarely.Do they eat fish?only if its dead.

I've seen very well fed 15 year old fly rivers take down an entire discus collection. It depends on the turtle, by my point is that you shouldn't advertise an animal that has been known to attack fish as something that doesn't. It is false advertising, and could DEFINITELY and will sour many aquarium hobbyists who cross over to the world of herps through their interest in the Fly River Turtle. Remember, this is not about the individual personality of a specific Fly River, it is about the personality of Fly Rivers in general, and false advertising.

Oh, forgot to mention, I appreciate that even though we may differ in opinions, you at least have the courtesy not to compare me to "squirrel dung" :) Also, Potamotrygon species get along with most other fish that are too large for them to swallow. They are a non aggressive, very intelligent species of fish. I also assumed that a very well fed Fly River would not attack other fish. I was wrong.

Here's my little guy (moved to sand about 4 months ago):

Whoops, missed your other post turtle pimp, guess I ought to respond to that. I've never said a word to William in my life, let alone conducted business with him. I cannot believe that you do not think that there is anything wrong with that ad. I must say, you are truly misinformed if you believe that someone stating "they're herbivorous, and won't attack fish" is perfectly alright to post in an ad for something we ALL know is to the contrary. Again, using your perspective, would it be okay for me to begin advertising that I have a few Shinisaurus for sale, and that they absolutely HATE snails, and will thrive on a diet of iceburg lettuce? Give me a break........... Look at the larger picture, and not take this just from the point of view of an intermediate to advanced hobbyist.

Josh,I'm something of a turtle enthusiast.Actually I keep well over 500.And Flyguys are one of 116 species I work with. And I am also friends with many others.
So it might be fair to say that if my experience is closer to the ad than yours.

I recently sent my Flys out on loan as they got a little big for what I was doing at the time. But I will share the setup with you.240 Oceanic,8 inches of playsand on one end, river rock on the other. Two large plastic logs, plenty of plastic plants.Twin Magnum 350s for filtration. These guys cohabitated with 7 large anglefish, two six inch dojos, and an african knife, roughly 7 inches. And one overgrown pleco.

Four years these guys did thier thing with nothing more than a pleco sucking a hole in one of the flyguys head.

Don't sweat it too much, anyone dumb enough to plop down $325 on a turtle that they know nothing about deserves dead fish.I am no big fan of overadvertising, and the ad is a little over the top flash wise, but the information given is fairly accurate with the exceptions of the opinions given.

As babies and juveniles, the primary diet is structuraly herbivorous.

Again,WHY IS THIS POST HERE?

Your put some poor shmuck on BOI who did little more than give a description that was not to your liking or experience.

It's not the first time good 'ol Williams been on the BOI, he has a habbit of stealing photos, misrepresenting animals, and ect.

This just isnt as EXTREME as the other cases, but still a misrepresentation. I'd hate to see someone buy an animal like this and follow the information in his original advertisment. It was inaccurate to say the least regarding feeding requirments, size\maturity, and co-habitation with other fish.

His ad was basically worded so it would sell. He only provided FACTUAL information after the ad was brought to the attention of the BOI.

Not to mention the original picture on the ad listed on Varanus.net was stolen as well...

But hey, lets forget all of these things and defend him. right? :)

The issue was brought to light, and its purpose has been fulfilled.

My job is done here, I'll let Josh have his thread back :D

:AR15firin

typo... that wasent the site the ad was on, it was listed on a venomnous site actually. Dont know why..... :shrug01:

But regardless, im sure it's been removed... lol

I guess you could construe my posts as defending him.Not my intention.
My intention was to say that the information, solely based on my personal experience, was accurate.

But I am not a biased person, unless your name is Prem Avani,or Bearded Pets. For now.

Sorry Andy, I fell asleep. Still recovering from surgery I had friday for the last of this stingray garbage. Chris said it perfectly, William has been trying to get away with things FARRRRRRRR worse than this for quite some time now, however, he would always remove the post RIGHT before it was to be copied/linked and say "huh, what are you talking about?". 500 species of turtles is EXTREME. Finally, I've met someone who's actually more obsessed with all of this than I am!!!!
Josh

MY animals, of which I've owned a dozen and those I maintained at the zoo NEVER attacked live fish. Insculpta does very well in aquariums and success to that is what you feed them and how often. Feed the animals proper amounts regularly they'll choose plants over animals every time. If the animal's been WC and adapted to mainly fish or if you don't feed the animal often enough or get it hooked on animal proteins hell yes it will eat your fish. Iguanas, Tortoises, Bearded Dragons and Rodents are the same way, if those animals are fed animal proteins too much or too long it will learn to be a meat eater from lack of choice.

My purpose for pasting the Insculpta diet from the specialists website would be obvious if you read it closely. It supports that they do in fact lean in favor of herbiverous with the exception of seasonal or regional food availability. In these cases of limited plant matter they will settle for a cheeseburger instead of a salad........when you're hungry, you're hungry!

The growth rate of herbiverous animals is directly connected to how much they eat of what. You feed animal proteins to a herbivore it will grow twice as fast as its counterparts for the simple chemistry of animal protein converts to animal mass easier than plant protein does. You offer a lot of animal protein you'll have a big animal in no time but feeding them mainly plants like they're designed for they grow much slower and steadily. That's why bodybuilders aren't vegetarians and strict vegetarians are built lean.

You never made any attempt at all to see if maybe I was misinformed about their care, did I actually have them or even contact me to size me up. Your instant response was argumentative, insinuative and insulting.............basically I was out to screw people. And you did exactly as the others who post in these threads , you drew your conclusion without even knowing me or dealing with me. One would think if I'm screwing people over left and right like you all make it sound there would be previous customers complaining.

All internet business's have people on the offensive because it's an impersonal way to deal with people. Human nature is fear of the unknown and we all have our triggers that set off a red flag. I don't know who's on the other end of this line so I'm guilty of the same thing, as soon as I hear the words Nigerian, cameroon or Western Union I think "thief". But on the flipside if Andy were to offer me animals from his Nigerian supplier and asked that I send it Western Union because he needs the cash I wouldn't think anything of it. I've never dealt with TurtlePimp, I'm pretty sure we've never even interacted but I know people that have and they trust him, that's all I need to know.

I don't like the fact we're quick to judge and pass sentence but I'm not going to admit to things I haven't done, change the way I do things or get upset about it all...........why should I, I can't change it. If my experience and study has me to believe these are slow growing, passive herbivores you don't have to agree with me but to judge me prior to checking into why I feel that way and claiming I'm a thief makes you more guilty of false information than I.

The BOI lynch mob doesn't bother me any, people jump to conclusions so damn fast some of the best people you could ever know have been drug through the mud on here. And there's always going to be nervous people that take that information and run with it labeling me a bad guy. And of course it affects my sales, no ones every directly said so but I'm sure it does. Even that's ok with me, all I can do is ask people to pay me with secure methods that protects them, offer all of the information about the animals I have and prove to them I have integrity.

PayPals TOS prohibits charging people a fee to use their service but allow the collection of "Processing fees" which is nothing more than a way to hide the 3% transfer. I'm not going to mask what they charge, hide it or profit from it by charging people a "fee". Using PayPal is not something I insist on it's an option to the customer. If I send you a postal MO express mail to secure an animal that was my choice, the additional cost of paying that way isn't your responsibility. I accept the fact it's an additional charge from a third party for their services. I'm not holding anything for anyone I don't know or that seems iffy, the checks in the mail routine costs you sales.

Status of Insculpta was recently changed during the CITES convention in Bangkok, the animal has been upgraded from protection by the Lacey act to a CITES II listing. Foreign bodies may very well still have their collection and exportation bans in effect in addition to CITES. The change was proposed several years ago at the last meeting and after population research they found the animal plentiful enough for a CITES II listing.

On a side note there are way too many threads about me. It would be much easier for people to figure out what a lying thieving dirtbag I am if all the threads were attached to eachother or if I could get Rich to set up a seperate forum just about me.

Webslave, could you please?

Hi Bill-

I was just curious as to what zoo you worked at? Recently the zoo he works at (Fort Worth Zoo) received a letter from you asking for donations to you. You listed several species you were looking for, I can't remember all of them but they included angolan pythons, black head pythons, womas, etc.. lots of high end reptiles. In that letter you had stated you had worked in the zoo field but no one in the herp could seem to recall ever hearing your name before. So I was just wondering if you could clear that up. Thanks!

I still know you're a thief.....

You stole that picture did you not?

You edited it by reversing it and then proceded to add your name to it...

Paragraphs upon paragraphs of garbage and they still don't change anything.

Too bad.....

Recently the zoo he works at (Fort Worth Zoo) received a letter from you asking for donations to you.

i apologize, that should read, recently the zoo my husband works at received a letter asking for donations for you.

Sorry about that!;)

Uh Oh

I just did some checking, and noticed an ad on TurtleTimes for a bunch of mid to high end tortoises. All CITIES,all small.Huh?Singapore?Hong Kong?

Guess it's up to the authorities to figure out.

Well,the ads gone(kinda)

:flamethr:

I corresponded with William several times regarding some of the torts he was advertising. I repeatedly asked for photos of the specific animals being sold and was always met with a reason as to why he could not supply photos (back/neck problems, sister recently passed away etc.). This went back and forth for approximately 2 weeks.
A few days after giving up on the transaction several friends called and emailed me advising that William was using edited photos of my offspring in his most recent Kingsnake ad. One friend responded to the ad asking if he had my permission to use the photos and stated that he knew who produced/owned the animals he was using in his ad. Within 10 minutes the ad was gone. I also emailed William stating that my pictures were not to be used to sell his stock. He replied with an explanation of how he had mistakenly used my photos which doesn't ad up considering he had altered several different photos and merged them into one making it appear that all the animals were together for a group shot. In addition each animal was either reversed or had subtle changes made to the markings which leads me to believe that deception was the goal from the beginning.
