I'll be the first one to recommend any of the fine breeders on these boards over a pet store any day, as most of you who know me are aware....BUT, I guess there are always exceptions to any rule.
Here's how it all went down....I've been eyeing this new cage for my cresties at the local Petcos, but haven't found the 24" tall version. It's the new Exoterra one, if any of you are looking for it, glass doors, screen top, foam faux rock background. Anyway, my search for this taller version of the cage has taken me to almost every PetCo in southern California(not really, but a lot of them). On the way back from the America's Family Pet Expo last weekend in Orange County, we stopped by yet another Petco and we saw the best looking gecko Ever to set foot in a Petco, EVER! I always dismiss the leos, only looking whether there's anything to complain to the management about, but not this time. I was amazed, and when we saw it, my wife told me without hesitation to go get someone to show it to me right then. The conditions were standard for a petco, which in my opinion are getting better at least around here, but clean. Actually, they're conditions are much better than PP and another well-known reptile shop we visited today.
Anyway, I'll stop rambling and ask if anyone would pass this little gem up for $29.99?
This breaks my 'not having bought a leopard gecko from Petco since 1999' streak!
Of course it is in quarantine, with strict hand-washing regime and will receive a couple fecals before ever seeing another gecko. I still won't recommend a new leo owner to buy one from Petco and I try to not even go in PetSmart anymore....do they even still sell Reptiles? I saw one the other day had taken out their reptile display altogether.
