    =====================

    I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

    So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

    But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

    Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

    I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    =====================
    Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

    And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

I'll be the first one to recommend any of the fine breeders on these boards over a pet store any day, as most of you who know me are aware....BUT, I guess there are always exceptions to any rule.

Here's how it all went down....I've been eyeing this new cage for my cresties at the local Petcos, but haven't found the 24" tall version. It's the new Exoterra one, if any of you are looking for it, glass doors, screen top, foam faux rock background. Anyway, my search for this taller version of the cage has taken me to almost every PetCo in southern California(not really, but a lot of them). On the way back from the America's Family Pet Expo last weekend in Orange County, we stopped by yet another Petco and we saw the best looking gecko Ever to set foot in a Petco, EVER! I always dismiss the leos, only looking whether there's anything to complain to the management about, but not this time. I was amazed, and when we saw it, my wife told me without hesitation to go get someone to show it to me right then. The conditions were standard for a petco, which in my opinion are getting better at least around here, but clean. Actually, they're conditions are much better than PP and another well-known reptile shop we visited today.

Anyway, I'll stop rambling and ask if anyone would pass this little gem up for $29.99?

This breaks my 'not having bought a leopard gecko from Petco since 1999' streak!

Of course it is in quarantine, with strict hand-washing regime and will receive a couple fecals before ever seeing another gecko. I still won't recommend a new leo owner to buy one from Petco and I try to not even go in PetSmart anymore....do they even still sell Reptiles? I saw one the other day had taken out their reptile display altogether.

ive seen some semi nice leos at petco that i wondered what theyed look like later on but thats better than id expected

If that comes back clean, I'd call it the deal of the century! I certaintly would have bought it. Looks like it's pretty healthy too.... oh yeah and friggin beautiful!

Treasure found at PETSDUMB??

Looks like a good deal! Nice looking Tang Carrot, but for some reason Dolphin safe Tuna flashed in my head.

Nice leo!

People in glass houses can't throw stones...

I got this little guy at Petco last year.

I have been selling alot of my babies to local pet stores. You got a great deal. Quess you just found one of my clients. ;)

BAD BAD ROB!!! hell ya you got a deal... looks healthy and is gorgeous!!! but like you said quarenteen quarenteen quarentee LOL

I would pass it up just for fear of bringing some pathogen into my collection..... I would not risk my collection just to save some cash..... Reputable breeders are the only way to go in my eyes..... That is a very nice leo though..... It would have been hard for me to pass up, but I would have.....

Yes well Gregg we all know that your different and atleast would have enough will power to pass that lil beaut up! What a cutie! I've seen some very nice leos at the petco near me, my mom doesn't like impulse buying though. :(

I agree that, that is a score. Quarantine and your in business.

Nice!!!

Great find, Rob! Here in California, most of the PetCo's now get their geckos from CalZoo instead of Gourmet Rodent and/or C.R.A.P. Also, since the District Attorney in San Francisco filed charges of animal cruelty against 2 Petco stores and the court closed them down for selling reptiles, many of the PetCo's here in the Bay Area are spotless, well managed, and actually appear to be concerned about the welfare of their animals!

Yea, same here. The petcos near me aren't that bad. I went to one a couple of weeks ago that was so great I would be willing to drive the hour to get there. Alot of Petcos have gotten their act together(alot haven't though)..now we have to wait for the petsmarts to get better.

Good Score!! Hopefully it turns out healthy, if so, you got yourself a GREAT deal!!!!

:bolt01: What a steal, 30 dollars for that little gem. Wait till it gets older. So pretty. I got my Leo from Petsmart and hes so cute and a fattie now too. Hes got a nice pattern too. They are so hard to pass up.

Nice leo, sad to say I have never been in a petco lol I think there is one near us maybe, we do have petsmarts close by and Ive been in one of them 1 time but just wanted to see what they had.

Here's my little Petco acquisition:)

Here she is, on the day I got her...

And here she is now:

I took a big chance with this one, as her cagemates looked on death's door, and she appeared the healthiest, but had her for several weeks now and she has grown and eats like there is no tomorrow. I am not kidding, she will literally try to eat your hand if you don't get out of her way fast enough!

Rob, which SoCal petco was that? Reason I ask is, the Petco near me had a couple that looked like that. I know the guy who runs the reptile dept. at that one and he has turned it around since he has been there. I normally don't trust big corporate pet chains but he has really done well with taking care of all of the animals. before he was there is a whole different story.

Hi- These are my very first albinos and they were purchased at PetCo almost 2 yrs ago
