    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

he dimensions of the cage im going to build is 3 feet wide x 3 feet deep x 5 feet tall. How old would a chameleon have to be if I put him in here?
Thanks,
Jacob

Howdy,

There are advantages and disadvantages to a large enclosures. The one that you are probably zeroing in on is the chameleons ability to hunt down food in a large enclosure without starving in the process. I'd guess that the typical species would be big enough if older than 6-8 months. Other issues will be making sure that he can get to his basking/UVB source. That usually means 6"-12" from a Reptisun 5.0 tube and up to 90-95F basking temps for something like a Veiled Chameleon. And will you be able to keep the rest of the enclosure temps in the proper range? Obviously, many keepers are highly successful with large enclosures. It just may end up being more work than you think to make it all happen. Don't hesitate to get/make a smaller enclosure until he gets bigger.

Good Luck!

im planning on getting a 3 month old instead and i guess around or after christmas i will build a bigger cage.
thanks,
Jacob

P.S. Is the habba mist ok for a cage 18x18x36?

Howdy,

The Habba Mist just doesn't cut-it for chameleons. It is designed to run for up to only ONE minute at a time. It doesn't hold much more than a pint or two of water. It is better than nothing. But for the $40+ that you'll spend, if you are looking at one of the other mistings systems, invest in it now.

On the other hand, if you want to buy the leftover Habba Mist that I have, they're great! :rofl: (It's cheaper to learn from our mistakes...)

Good Luck.
