    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I would like to know if the expresssivity of the Calico gene is variable from one generation to the next? i.e., does the parent's amount of white define the offsprings'? Or is it possible to get a high-white from a low-white parent? Does this vary among the different lines of Calico (Nerd, F&F)?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Honestly I'm not 100% sure, but I have been told that lows CAN throw highs and highs CAN throw lows, but highs throw highs more often. And lows throw lows more often. As for the lines, I haven't really seen much of a difference, kinda like butter vs lesser

^Pretty much my understanding. More often than not, I see the higher white, or more attractive Calicos referred to as "Sugars".

Even if the parent is either low white or high white they can produce variable offspring. Kinda like how pieds can produce all sorts of different percentages of white offspring :)

Thanks for the input everyone. I didn't want to invest in "high-whites" if their offspring would be all over the place on white and I could get the same results with "low-white" stock.

from what I have seen and talked with Dan Wolfe about is that the non calico parent can have a big affect on the out come... if you find a female that produces high white when bred to a calico male she will constantly produce high white...

That's interesting, but it would make sense

What Jason Said

Jason is absolutely correct regarding calicos. It all depends on the Non-calico parent. Some of the nicest calicos I have ever seen were produced with Low White calicos. I produce over a dozen each season. I had (2) big normal girls that were just kept for making nice calicos. With the prices of calicos down as low as they are, I would still get the very best looking one out there.
Dan Wolfe..He had a very nice collection, It's a shame he sold everything off for pennies on the dollar when he got out. Red Stripes, Tricks, Calico Combos, Blitz...really did a number on those values!
