    =====================

    I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

    So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

    But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

    Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

    I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    =====================
    Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

    And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

I have a leo for sale on the classifieds that as het for Tremper which I have proven and as poss het for Giant. I have not giants in my collection so this is not proven.

I recieved a message that a leo cannot be Het for giant as this is not possible.

Is this true? If so I want to remove the info as well as contact the person who I recieved it from who sold it as a het for giant.

Hmmm...

I also have two leos 1 albino and one "normal" that i was told were possible giants. I guess we will have to wait for the leo experts to jump in and answer this one.

I want to see what everyoe else has on that but something tells me its not possible.I think its either Giant or its not...say you breed a gaint and a normal.the babies have a 50%chance of being giant and 50% chance of being normal.They will either get that gaint gene or not.If not they are not and not het either.I think but I may be wrong.genetics is not my strong point.

there used to be het for giants until tremper had a revalation that they are a co-dominant trait
so not no such thing as a het giant... it either is or it isnt and thus have been oproven as fact

Technically there is such a thing as a het giant...however it will BE giant. Homozygous dominant giants are "super giants," and heterozygous giants are "giants." Normals are normals...there is no such thing as a het giant that looks like a normal.

agreed.

geeze just keep it simple... dont go all wanna be einstien over here simple question simple answer

Giant is a co-dominant trait, so you can't have a leo het for giant since it is not recessive.

I am being simple...het means two different alleles...not two different alleles in a recessive trait. Genetically a giant is a het...simple as that.

With giants showing no signs of being what they are other many being lanky and thier size this could be pretty common. If someone where to breed a giant to a non giant half the babioes would be gaints. If sold young those babies wouldn't really be giants for sure so any sold couldn't 100% be sold as giants they would have to see how big they got and how fast and to be 100 % sure breed it and prove it out.....

no... yes...

To answer the original question, "I recieved a message that a leo cannot be Het for giant as this is not possible. Is this true?" There really is no such thing as "het for Giant". A gecko either expresses the trait or is does not. Tremper was wrong about his own morph being recessive, and shattered the earth with his news when he admitted it.

Hmmm...

He is a 2 yr old Het for Tremper albino, poss het for giant. I have proven his albino het. His giant het is unproven because I don't have any other giant in my line to prove it out, although some of the babies last year were much longer then what I typically produce.

And on people web sites....

Alberto is well aware of giants and them being co-dom I'm sure that is an old post. To add Ron Tremper himself told me he has sold many giants to Alberto as normal non gaint albinos, that what he thought was het where probably giants. Before its was proven that the giant trait was a co-dom and I think that was the year before last or last year RT stated it was recessive so its not really anyones fault as the false statements prior to that other than RT.

sorry nicoli i wasnt aiming that comment at chad... sorry but personally simpicity is the way to go... it is easier to understand and to not get confused and dealing with hets in a co dominant trait (or so ron says) can get quite confusing.

Nicolai, as for my ad that is why I started this thread. That animal was sold to me as het for giant and het for tremper. I have proven it for giant but never did anything with giants. I had no idea there was no het for giant. I have made a note on the animal about the het for giant not beign true now that I have more information.

Marketing ploy..... Plain and simple..... Or like Xavier said, the breeder not being sure or they just do not care..... Either way an animal will fetch more money sometimes if you put possible het for this and that.....

Personaly, I do not buy het for anything...... If I can see the trait, I dont buy it.....
