    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Previously in FC Forum(s) it was reported that the CDC had been receiving reports of Salmonella infections and hospitalizations in people with turtle pets. CDC first release was on 8/18/2023. This CDC release on 9/29/2023. The CDC indicates it is now aware of 59 illnesses (an increase of 39 since the August report), of which 23 required hospitalization (an increase of 14 since the August report), and the 59 illnesses occurred in 18 states (an increase of 7 since the August report). Map of the states and further details in links within the page.

The CDC landing page, on left margin, indicates other sources of Salmonella. However this page is dedicated to turtles. Turtle keepers and reptile keepers in general should take note of CDC advice, terminology, semantics, and sentiments of the narrative. The CDC page will be cited where municipalities, cities, and state game and fish commissions wish to limit commerce in turtles; and even ownership of turtles. Probably good thinking to keep your turtles clean, don't sell to kids, don't let kids handle turtles at shows, adhere to laws and regulations. And there is probably increased liability for those selling / trading in turtles if the buyer or their kids becomes infected and sick with Salmonella. It would not be surprising to see state public health departments or game and fish departments sampling turtle water at shows.
