I just had a (can you say SMOOTH TRANSACTION) with Chris of Heartland Herps and Exotic Animal Rescue. For a 100% het Albino Male. Couldn't even count the number of calls we exchanged or how many minutes we talked, he was an all around nice guy to talk to and do business with. I will hopefully be doing business with Chris in the future.

I beg to differ...

In September of 2007 I sent out 7 boas to Chris Brandenburg of Heartland Herps and Exotics or Sunflower State Serpents of Topeka, Kansas. The value of which was over $800 dollars after shipping expenses. Chris was supposed to send me out a male and female pair of 2007 Nicaruaguan boas, a 2007 male hypo het anery boa , and a female 2008 albino boa. (He told me that he sold all of the albinos from this year but was planning on producing more the following year. )
Since Chris had contacted me about a trade he shipped first. After receiving the male and female pair of 2007 Nicaruaguan boas and the 2007 male hypo het anery boa from Chris, I shipped out my 7 snakes to him. Chris said he would ship out an albino female or a snake of equal value when the weather warmed up the following year.
Well here it is July and I can’t get Chris to reply to my email messages or reply to my messages or comments on Myspace where we met. I have messaged him about bulletins he has posted with snakes for sale telling him that if he hadn’t produce any albinos this year, then I would accept another snake(s) of similar value.

So my point with posting this is to warn others about my trade experience with Chris of Heartland Herps and Exotics. Don’t ship before you get what he promised and make sure you sex them within the time allotted by his terms and guarantees. I just don’t want anyone else to get ripped off. I have saved all of the email communications between us as proof of this injustice, but what else can I do besides rant when the guy lives so far away? Oh well learn from my mistakes, because hindsight is 20/20.

After posting a bulletin very similar to this on Myspace I finally heard back for Chris. He explained to me that he was having financial issues and offered me a credit on an 2009 boa or ball. My thoughts on this are that he had just posted a bunch of animals and some equipment for sale. So it sounds to me like he would rather get money then finish an outstanding trade with me. He seemed very upset by my post, but instead of working something out he deleted me from his friends list. I guess if he does end up sending me out a 2009 boa or ball of equal value I will post it on here. But somehow I doubt that will happen after 2 years.

Any suggestions?

i didnt have any albinos and ive pretty much sold everything to pay lawyers to get my step kids back and have been working as much hours as i can and a 2nd job at nite too so i can to raise money for the lawyers and pay bills dam lawyers are not cheap

I noticed you deleted me from your friends here on Myspace. This is my offer to you. I would rather have one high end animal that a bunch of low end animals, but at least I could sell them and not feel ripped off. If you want to send me out snakes(s) of equal value then I will retract what I have said about you in public and explain that it was all a mistake. If that takes until 2009 then you will have to live with my posts about your injustice until your actions prove otherwise. I will not keep "beating a dead horse" but hope you chose to do the right thing.

I did try to talk to you before I posted anything! I have copies of the email messages and Myspace messages that I sent you that you never gave me a response to. I posted the bulletin at first only on Myspace to try to get a response from you. Now I have posted in many other places so that hopefully you won't be able to rip anyone else off. You know the damage was done when you decided not to fulfill your end of our trade agreement. Why would a retraction not work if you actually fulfilled your end of our agreement? Then people would know that you did the right thing. How are you loosing sales if you don't have all of your animals anymore? I'm sorry that you are not feeling well or having money problems, but I don't see how that justifies you ripping me off.

Sorry to hear about this Meghan. I'm curious to the time frame that Chris claims he couldn't get online. I have some emails from him around the beginning of AUG. Chris contacted me a while back in regards trading a female etb he had for one of my hypo cyclone males. After seeing the pics of his animal in less than excellent health and a clean environment I decided to pass. Also on one of his website he's got a disclaimer saying "HEARTLAND HERPS Reserves the right to change or amend terms of service at any time." I would never do business with anybody saying something so broad. I especially wouldn't make a trade with somebody like that for animals they didn't have, nor would I accept an offer for "maybe I'll produce some next year".

Then he claims he lost potential sales for animals he doesn't allegedly have because of your post? Come on now. Wouldn't have been alot easier for him to contact you and see what you wanted to do? Maybe you would have accepted those animals, or maybe he could have sent you the cash from those sales instead of supposedly having an albino shipped directly to you.

What a joke. He has done all of this to himself. Maybe he could pull himself out of the mud by doing the right thing but I really doubt he will. This guy is white trash just like his myspace song says. Best of luck Meghan, Nick Stone

My claims to the emeralds health were my opinion. I think that most people would agree that the animal in the following pics is in less than excellent health. Even Ray Charles or Hellen Keller could see that animal is probably an import that hasn't been treated and is probably a few pukes away from death. You can see the ribs pretty clearly and there's alot of loose skin. The scars on the head also don't help any either. Also I don't know of to many experienced keepers who co-habitate their emeralds with there ATB's.

i also have done verbil agrements with him and he has fulfilled them along with a few others i know of

i know the claims about the emerald are false because i just bought her from chris and she is 100% healthy fat and robust and tame just like chris said she was.

this is making me want to go to his house this week and chat him up about this deal as much as he has been working i can say i belive him when he says he wasnt able to get online for a little while i did notice the date and time stamps in the emails meg posted had gaps and some huge gaps in the time date stamps on them like bill stated whats posted here stays here so even if he does complete the deal and you retract your comments his name can remain tarnished for a very long time i think you went about this all wrong if emails didnt work then you should of did the leg work to call him on the phone and work it over with him or drop a letter in the snail mail asking him whats up there seems like there were other /ways to contact him other then just myspace meg not everyone lives on myspace like most and i think it would realy look bad on your part to post on a site and not letting him know what site your posting on like he asked in the mesage he sent you. everyone has the right to defend them selves and if this thread has been going on without his knowledge or the right to make his public statments/defence well to me it seems wrong not to let them know the link or the site address i feel you jumped the gun here meg i understand your in another state but the infomation phone operator can and will lookup phone numbers for you of a person in another state. you have the return address that was on the recived animals he DID send you. you have his first and last name and i would like to think if you have internet service you may have a phone line in your home if posting from your home not to sound rude but that would of been my net step after no responce of myspace messages and i dont want to sound like im defending him i dont know the full nature of the deal you 2 made on this deal but it some what sounds lacking on your part when it came to exhusting all your contact resources before posting on here i mainly came to this thread and posted to it in order to defend the health issue of my new emerald i got from him but after reading it a few times i had to comment on a few things i noticed

Interesting. I find it funny that when someone gets screwed over and they complain about it here on Fauna classifieds they are the ones who get attacked. How frustrating! I wasn't going to lie about anything and am rather offended at being a called a liar when I didn't do anything wrong. I guess the mistake was complaining about it on this site.

What I meant to Chris was that if he did send me out what he promised that I would post that he did so. That way it would be made public that he did do what he promised. I was trying to give Chris an out, because it took me publicly complaining to get him to talk to me.

I guess I should have not used the word "retraction". I'm sorry their is a gap in the time line. We communicate via his email and messages on Myspace. I will try to get them all together and post on here. I will message him and tell him I posted a complaint here on fauna classifieds. I would like to see what he has to say to me when everyone can see it.

So again tell me why when someone gets ripped off by a Fauna Classifieds member and posts a complaint they get attacked?
