In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I've been meaning to ask this:
Why has there been a change in the ad appearance?

The description of the ad is being posted on the viewing page - instead of simply the title and author - in the 2nd column - is it is very distracting, and one needs to scroll forever to get through a few ads.

As I recall, this happened a few months back and I thought it was a glitch of some sort - especially because the viewing page seems to be able to change the size of that column.

Will we ever see the neat, orderly page of "yesterday" again?

Actually what you see now in the classifieds section is as it comes from the original install of the program. When I originally installed it, this past Spring, I changed the format by removing that text description and also enabling HTML coding within the body of the text ad.

When the most recent update was done by my programmer, he convinced me that enabling HTML was not the best thing to do, and also reverted the code back to what you now see there. I've just had too many things on my hands since then to even think about changing it to the way I had modified it, and figured unless a majority of people had a real issue with it, then it just wasn't worth my time to "fix" something that wasn't really broken.

Hi Rich,

I can understand not enabling the HTML in the classified ads... but the format was much better before - less cluttered looking!

Am I really the only one that would appreciate the reinstatement of the old format???

Well so far, it looks like it. :shrug01:

On one hand...

It was easier to just skim the titles with more per page the other way...

but this way you don't have to open the body of the ad to get a gist of what the seller states in the ad.

SOoooo... I guess it's up to you Webmeister :). Personally I like it both ways for different reasons. (Boy, that sure was a lot of help, wasn't it? :raspberry )
