    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Clear nails. . .where did that come from?

One of my babies has clear nails, while the others have black. Neither of the parents have the clear nails. Has this ever happened to someone? Ill post pics if i can figure out how to resize them.

This happens when both the parents carry the gene for clear nails, but may not have the nails themselves, so the parents are Het for that gene. Each baby they produce has a 25% of displaying the trait, 50% chance of being het, and a 25% chance of being completely void of anything to do with clear nails.

This also gives me a chance to mention something that I think might occur very soon:

Albino Beardies in the US and Europe

We know beyond doubt that albino bearded dragons do exist, that is also proof that there are dragons that are het for it in existence right now. We also know that at least three clutches with albino babies in them have been hatched by different parents, 2 in captivity and 1 in the wild (there are probably more, but this is what we are sure of). We also know that each time, they have come from gold/yellow color parent.

These have all taken place within walking distance to each other in Australia and also in an area that many dragons came out of years ago, New South Wales. NSW does not have a large population of vitticeps like some of the other Territories do, so I am sure they are seeing or will see a lot more naturally occurring albinos there.

This makes me think it is just a matter of time before the right two het parent dragons in the US & Europe are put together and we start seeing a few albino babies in clutches and those will come out of the gold line dragons.

I hope when this happens, that people will continue to breed them into the gold or citrus lines as that is where there is the greatest potential to find other non related hets that are genetically safe and strong.

When someone has or suspects they may have albino/albino hets, they will breed them to non albino's and hope to create many more hets(genetically unrelated so they are stronger) , eventually breeding those back together hoping that will produce offspring with the trait. I think if they also breed them into more gold/citrus lines, they will find non related lines that already carry that gene

Because of the massive amount of breeding in the US from the same small original lines and all of the inbreeding I'd doubt we will see it here without an infusion of new blood from AU. If there were hets I think they'd have proven out by now. Believe me, I'm trying to figure out a legal way to get some here. I already have friends over there that are licensed catchers, it's just a matter of getting the paperwork which is probably NOT going to happen in my lifetime.
