    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Couple questions...

Hi, I have a couple of questions. I have a young female hognose that's acting a little weird. She paces a lot. Originally she was cruising around her tank, but now she's sticking to the cooler side...then she burrows down for the night.

I have her in a 10 gallon tank with aspen shavings. The hot spot is 90 degrees and she has a hide on both the hot and cool side (which is about 70-80). She was drinking a lot of water so I worried I had the cage too dry and just put in a moist hide. She immediately used it. She is literally climbing the walls of her cage though so I want to make sure there isn't something else I can do for her. Are hognose really as active as my little girl, or am I inadvertently stressing her out? She's my first hognose and the web has so many different opinions on how to care for them!

Another thing that isn't really clear to me is how often to feed her. I was feeding her pinkies every M W F and that was good but she's big enough to take a fuzzy now. Should I keep on with the pinkie regime, or start her on fuzzies? Once a week or more often? My adult garter takes a fuzzy a week but I've read that hogs have higher metabolisms.

Thanks for reading my enormous post! Any help will be greatly appreciated.:)

If you are giving her small enough meals that they are passed before the next, your 3X weekly schedule should be fine. I feed mine meals about half the size I would feed a corn their size. Hogs have a propensity to get fat, so watch her girth as she grows, you shouldn't see skin between the scales.

As for pacing, that's what hogs do sometimes. As long as they are eating, pacing doesn't seem to hurt anything, and probably helps with muscle tone. It can really accelerate weight loss when they go on a feeding strike though. Good luck and enjoy her!
