In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

So whats the status on how this impending tropical storm heading toward the Orlando area may or may not affect the Daytona Show this weekend? Whats everyone's thoughts?

Daytona

I live in North Central Florida (about an hour from Daytona) and right now we are supposed to be having heavy rains and strong winds however the sky is nice and clear. Full of stars... Even if the storm does get a little stronger it will be long gone by the weekend.

I doubt there will be any damage to the city. I strongly believe the show will be unaffected and as great as always.

Well, I don't know, but it appears that hurricane Fay is going to park itself right over Daytona Beach for a good 24 hours, if the forecast track is accurate. That's going to dump a LOT of rain and provide a pretty constant application of hurricane force winds to everything in the area. When Charlie blew quickly through as a Cat 1, it knocked power out all over the area and made a darn mess of things.

We were planning on getting to Daytona on Thursday for early setup, since things were already going to be messy because one of the loading areas for the center will be blocked from construction. Since the hurricane is scheduled to be right over Daytona that day, obviously anyone planning on a similar early setup will very likely change their plans as well. I also doubt that the center would be willing to open up the cargo doors with hurricane force winds blowing about. So that means that Friday will have nearly EVERYONE trying to load in through half the loading docks normally available. That's assuming there is power in the area, roads aren't under water or blocked from debris, and there is no structural damage to the center from the sustained hurricane force winds. 75 mph winds applied to a structure for 24 hours is a whole different animal than 75 mph winds only being applied for an hour or so.

We will be driving from Tallahassee directly into the storm moving westward (if the predictions are accurate) early Friday morning, which I doubt is going to be much fun at all.

I seriously hope the forecast is not accurate and the storm gets the heck out of dodge and heads out to sea and away from Florida completely.

Yeah, with gasoline prices being so high to deter traveling, and the economy being down, the show just doesn't need this sort of additional sock to the jaw.

I'm thinking maybe the big guy upstairs is trying to tell Wayne Hill to move the show back to Orlando..... :yesnod:

The latest forecast doesn't look quite so bad. Just going to make things messy for vendors getting to the show Thursday for early setup.

Yeah, from the looks of things, Fay won't even hold a candle to Charlie. THAT was good times. ;)

haha... Fay was crap it didn't do anything in Dade County. :iagree:

This maybe a little off topic, but if I do get to go, this will be my first show. When buying anything at the show, do any of the sellers request ID showing state of residence? I live in GA. Never know what kind of native species I may want to bring back to it's home....Total newbie question I know.

I have never been asked for ID to make a purchase in Daytona.

Fay is basically right over us but it is nothing. Some winds and rain but it should be cleared up in time for the show.

Cool. Thanks, we're really looking forward to it. Lookin maybe to get a western hognose, garter, corn, or milksnake of some type. I have a young ball python and a beautiful WC corn already.
