    =====================

    I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

    So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

    But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

    Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

    I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    =====================
    Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

    And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

Okay..I DESPERATELY need help!! Two days ago I went to the pet store to get two mice for my ball python. When I got home, I noticed that there was a small hole in the box, and one of the mice had escaped in my car. AS hard as I looked, I just couldn't find the bugger. :slamit: So I thought maybe it fell out on the way from my pet store to the car.

But now my car is STINKING like :censored: ...I want to vomit!! :throwup02
Obviously the mouse has crawled up behind the dash or under the seats and has died...and in this GA heat, it's rotting already. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, if anyone has any suggestions...i'd be HIGHLY greatful.

Right now, I just can not drive my car..it's awful!! :ack2:

Do you watch Seinfeld? Trade the car in, quick, lol.
Your best bet is to find it, get it out of there, and do a good cleanup...barring that, the smell will start to dissipate in about two weeks. Figure by the time November comes, it will have either cleared enough to drive with the windows up OR you will be used to it

I've looked everywhere that I can..I just dont have the bucks to take it to a shop to have them take out the dash and look. I REALLY hope this starts clearing up in a couple of weeks, at the moment..I've parked my car in a quiet corner of my condo complex with the windows a little down and just leaving it there. In a week or two, I'll try some serious deodorizing.

This is beyond ANYTHING I have ever smelled. It really is vile.

On a slightly more serious note - at this point, it would be hard to track down the location...and a waste of money to pay somebody shop rate to randomly disassemble your car. If you don't NEED to use the car right now, you can try letting it sit - mice actually dissolve pretty quickly once the bugs get in them. Once the smell starts to break a bit, I would consider pulling the seats and maybe some of the moulding. If nasty decaying mouse drippings get in the carpet or upholstery, it will be tough to get rid of the smell without a good cleaning. If you have no luck tracking it down, once the smell eases you should try contacting some of the auto detailers and ask about deodorizing processes

This idea is a little off the beaten path but is all I could come up with: could you borrow a hound off one of your friends, open all the doors wide, and see if it goes to a particular part of the car? Dogs have a keen sense of smell and many of them love to find carrion (some of them will actually bring it home and present it as a gift to their owners).
Idea #2 is to purchase one of those electronic car ionizers, perhaps that might decrease the smell.
Good luck. Buy a special Kritter Keeper to bring them home in from now on?

I thought of something similar Lucille, borrowing someones cat..but alas, none of my friends have a cat!

I think I'm stuck with riding it out and hope that it decomposes VERY quickly. And then Harald, I think I'll take it to the auto-detailers to give it a thorough deodorizing!

Thanks for the suggestions guys!

If its so warm, and the smell is that bad, id think there would be flys possibly swarming or trying to get to the mouse.. maybe get in there and look for the flys, see where the are mostly, and find the closest nook in the car and start looking there..

Other then that.. id say get the febreeze for automobiles.. lol worked good for me when my cousin threw up all over my back seat... :>Puke<:

Problem is the mouse is in the car, and if the windows are up..I dont think they can smell the mouse..but good idea.

I need my car, so may have to go hunt down some industrial strength deodorizer!!

the windows are down a little, though, lol...you said so yourself. the flies have probably already been there...by tomorrow the maggots will be squirming all over the place

Charming thought..ugh ;)

Have them cracked a little..dont want ever racoon and (op)possum in GA getting into my car....hopefully my car doesnt turn into a zoo!

Hey Harald!!

It's going good...was able to drive it this weekend with the windows only half down :)

In this heat, the bugger seemed to decompose pretty quickly, thankfully. Still need to dump a ton of deodorant spray in there to keep it manageable..that rotten mouse smell sucks it up in no time!

By next week, we should be good for a proper industrial deodorant from the detailers!

yeah, would have been nice if it had just dried & shriveled...the smell isn't as bad, nor as long lasting. hopefully, the detailers have some secret potion that takes it away for you
