    I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

    So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

    But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

    Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

    I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Debbie Mawson - VERY, VERY BAD - Using my UPS Account!

Alright all... I know that there are threads on Debbie Mawson, but I didn't know that at the time. I had my female iguana for adoption, and I had some 10 calls, but debbie was the only one that could take her right away, so I went ahead with the deal. I used my business UPS Account to ship her next day air.

Now... I've recieved two UPS bills with two seperate shipments to Debbie Mawson of Sutherland, IA. It looks like she's hading out my UPS account number to have people send her animals. Both of these shipments were sent UPS Next Day Air using my shipping number (and therefore my billing number). I'm also still waiting for the $40 she said she would compensate me for shipping, but at this point I'm not holding my breath.

I've talked to UPS and they are reversing all the charges, as well as getting police involved. I've also contacted police and they said it might be considered a 'identity theft' type issue (like using someone else's credit card number). I just wanted to warn everyone from sending her ANYTHING. The worst part is that when agreeing to the deal, she told me she had a FedEx Account number and she'd schedule a pickup... I thought it would be easier to just use my account. Makes me wonder who's account she was going to give me.

Sad part for me is that I really cared about that iguana, and who knows where she is now. Debbie sounded like she was alright when i talked to her on the phone, but I guess with some people you never can tell. She gave me no reason to be suspicious, so I didn't even think about looking here for or anything. I've also found out that uses about 3 different address and 2 different phone numbers, all in IA.

I can provide e-mails and scans of my bills should anyone really feel like disputing my evidence.
 
She contacted me about two iguanas I had. I almost fell for her scam "I have an account you can ship them through" yeah, Brians!

Sorry you have to go through this, hopefully she will finally be stopped. She really is not one to trust, she really pushes to get iguanas from people.
 
Yeah I found out (after the fact) that she attempts to resell the iguanas she gets for free... just generally not a good person. I also found out from UPS that they will be sending her a bill for the charges she made, and if she doesn't pay then they get a collection agency and the police involved, and in some cases can even contact banks to get assets repossessed if the amounts start adding up. I'd love to see her face when she gets a $200 bill from UPS (the boxes she was using were HUGE! must have been full size iguanas... I'm sure it went something like "don't worry about the size, i'll pay for it...")... lol

Anyone who thinks they can use my account at my expense is sadly very mistaken.

On a positive note, UPS has been extremely helpful! They explained the whole process, and basically said I should ignore the charge, internal billing will switch it over. Less than 5 minutes on the phone each time. Kudos to UPS customer service! (well, the business billing department anyway)
 
She gets a free iguana, doesn't plan on paying the shipping charge to get it to her.....and still feels the need to rip you off using your UPS account!!!

How scandalous can a person get? People like that should just be taken out and shot, literally.
 
If the police end up pursuing a case, I'll be happy to add some additional charges. I have never received a dime against the check she wrote me on a closed account.

What a lovely lady.

Some jail time would be very appropriate for Miss Mawson.

I feel bad for you;not only for your sake but for all of the reptile community. How could someone not think they would not get caught?

Hi, Just wanted to let you know Lizzy is doing just great.She is such a nice iguana.I was wondering if you gave her lighting and stuff away yet?I would love to have it if you have no use.I would pay for you to ship to me.Also would you know where i could find a desert iguana?I have been looking forever and i am having know luck.Thanks and talk to ya soon.

About 15 minutes after I e-mailed her I recieve a phone call from 'Unknown'. It was Debbie basically saying that she needs to talk to me. I refuse to talk on the phone because I don't have the recording equipment available to record the call for documentation (and possibly to post online). Here's my e-mail response to that phone call:

Sorry Debbie,
but at this point I refuse to talk to you on the phone. Not because I'm afraid of you, but because I don't have the proper recording equipment. Be advised that any communication between you and I will be available online at my discretion (including any voice mail messages). Debbie Mawson... what a pain!

She contacted me and Dan about a month ago about our Desert Ig we had posted on Kingsnake. She promised money ("I'm sending it today, can I send half the payment tomorrow, I'll get a deposit out this weekend, etc.") but getting it from her was like pulling teeth. We finally dropped her business and all contact with her and from the look of things it's good that we did. She begged and pleaded, but we refused to deal with her because we felt that this character was trouble.

She is obviously using someone else's DHL account as well because this is how she wanted us to ship the lizard. No wonder she wasn't upset when we "returned to sender" the eventual payment via DHL that we told her numerous times not to send. Might be something worth looking into... I'll see if I can pull up some of the e-mails or other info but I'm pretty sure I deleted all existence of her contact with us.
 
I think my call to her earlier this morning may have had some affect on her. I asked if it was Debbi, and all she said was, "Who is this?" I then told her that she has a thread all about her here on Fauna's BOI. She played dumb and said, what??? So I said, "you know-- it is a thread on Faunas Board of inquiry that is all about the iguanas that you have had shipped to you using other people's UPS accounts." I told her that I thought she should know about it and that I would like to see what she has to say for herself in her defense. She then said that she never did such a thing, and hung up on me without another word. It did not seem like the behavior that I would expect from an innocent person.

The fat that she's called me twice and both times told me to call her immediately, dispite the fact I told her I will not discuss this via phone, to me says that she will not respond here. Too much possibility of her eating her own words. If I could record cell phone calls I would talk to her and post the audio file here. Nothing between us is going to be kept private. If she wants to talk, it's on my terms. I have protect myself from her obvious lies.
