    I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

    So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

    But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

    Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

    I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

OMG Gregg I had not seen that...And exactly what does he think will happen to those eggs when he ships them...does temp Fluctuation mean anything to anyone. But then because of whi it is I'm not really suprised he is kind of the puppy mill of geckos in My opinion. I have never been impressed with him.

Omg that is not a good idea. First off, how do they ship them and keep a constant temp, and how does the buyer know theyre fertile? I could understand selling a gravid girl, but not eggs.
 
What's he thinking? We keep our hatchlings til at least 2-3 months of age!!! It would be better to ship a 1-day-old hatchling than an egg (note the dripping sarcasm...) :hot:
 
The sad thing, is there's poss. some poor saps out there actually buying the eggs from him.
 
Yep... and we all know how brutal temp fluctuations can be on a developing hatchling... can you imagine the reactions of these poor people if they end up with a seriously malformed hatchling?

I hate to make this a personal issue, but I met this guy last year at a show and I must say...judging by his personality, I'm not surprised he's shipping eggs.

He refers to his availability page as "blood money". Put two and two together, I wouldn't buy from this guy.

There was actually an ad in my local paper here about 2 or 3 months ago for Leopard gecko eggs. they also had some scarlet macaw eggs and some other geckos, cresties I think. When I saw it I had to read it twice. I couldn't believe that someone would actually sell the eggs. Then some inexperienced buyer comes along and buys these eggs and has no idea what they are doing. Its really sad what some people would do to make a few dollars.
 
I can see selling bird eggs....as long as they aren't subjected to extreme temperatures, they can very safely be shipped and successfully hatched. Many hatcheries sell them, and I have in fact purchased fertilized eggs at auctions. I can't believe anyone in their right mind would think this was possible with gecko eggs however....
 
by everything that's on his site, I have only one thing to say about him ( and I apologize for the generalization to anyone who may fit into this social class and is a decent person)

I wasn't so sure about the bird eggs, I have heard that they can be sold but like you said without being subjected to extreme temps. But anyone who breeds any kind of reptile should know about what temp flucuations can do to a developing embryo. This is almost right up there with Petco selling reptiles with death breathing down their neck. IMO
 
Guys, temperatures aside...if gecko eggs get flipped upside down or even jostled, the fetus dies! There would be no conceivable way to ship a gecko egg without some movement inside the box...

What a tool!!!

good,bad, or indifferent my sister actually had a bird egg shipped to her (from ????) and still has the bird today. It is a toucan. It is the friendliest bird i have ever seen, eats cherries and stuff right out of your hand. Before you ask, she was sent a band with the egg from the breeder.


P.S. it hatched 17 days after she got it.
 
I emailed "coldbloods" to see if he was serious, and he was! He would ship an egg from Maryland to Arizona (where I live) . Is he crazy?
 
did he guarantee that it will hatch out???
 
Just from looking at his home page is enough to get an opinion of him. This just adds to it though.
 
This just tells me one thing... He obviously cares more for a 5 dollar bill than the life of a leopard gecko.... He is the type of "breeder" this hobby can do without.....
