In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Well, at the IRBA show today i bougt a 1000 count bucket of mealworms and when i got home and opened them, i realized their size. Heres a pic of a bigger one and an average one from the container:

I'm disappointed because i doubt these little "worms" will satisfy my gex :no01: :eatpointe

I get the same thing. I order mine through the mail and sometimes they are really small but then once in a while they will be huge.

Who did you get them from? Alot of times (especially at shows) there will be small ones when the demand is great... it may take a week to pump them up but it can be cut down to one day by feeding them cucumber. Cucumbers may not have the highest of nutrients but they are full of water which is beneficial too... I suggest (if you need them for feeding asap) to feed cucumber to as many as you need to feed right away then raise the rest up to size.

thanks a bunch, i'll see if i can get some cucumber and pump up about 30 for the next few days and the rest i have in the fridge for the time being. (I bought them at a small booth just called "Rainbow Mealworms"

Rainbow mealworms is a feeder breeder out of Compton, CA. I got some there today as well, and they are a bit small. But, as Gene says, they're like that often when you get them, no matter the source. You couldn't beat the price, though, huh? $5 for 1000.

Keep them out for a day or so in whatever you gutload with before you put them in the fridge. I don't keep mine in the fridge, but I think they'll need the nutrients before they slow down in the cold.

I always check my mealies to see if they are died before I buy them.

I understand why you didnt though, you shouldn't have to.

Ahh Geez.... thats most of the problem right there! I did business with Rainbow for several months... if you look at another thread regarding buying crickets bulk you'll see where I mentioned having ants in my shipments... RAINBOW! I had to have them reship twice, the 2nd replacement shipment came in with ants just like the prior 2 so I sent them pics and noted my disgust on the phone. Their reaction was ignoring me, lucky for them the BOI was not yet in existance! Just an FYI, pay the little bit extra and get them from American Cricket (and if you could tell Bill I sent yah his way I would appreciate it!) you'll be much happier with the product!

i bought some more mealworms, still small, but a little larger. I can't take a pic just yet cuz camera needs to recharge. anyways, i am thinking that just for one night i will feed my geckos ungutloaded meallies, and tommorow the meallies will be gutloaded. i got some cucumber like you guys mentioned and have about 300 out of 1000 in a gutloading bin. Hope the ones i had to put in the fridge don't die!

ok, i picked out a few from the new batch (from prehistoric pets/ www.prehistoric.com) and since i don't have time to gutload, i'm just gonna feed the geckos a few to hold them over until tommorow when i have a whole bunch that have been munching on cucumber and baby cereal

I am new at this, but it seems to me that there are a lot of people with baby gecko's out there and when I mail ordered mine I was relieved that they were small because of my two baby geckos. The worms are now larger and the babies are bigger too. It seems like it would be safer for a company to have smaller worms. You can't do a lot about bigger worms if they are too big for your babies. At least if they are too small you can let them grow.

What kind of geckos are you feeding these too? A hatchling leo can easily handle a full grown mealworm!

Gene,
You could try Sunshine Mealworms. They are a sister company to Rainbow but they’re far superior in customer service and quality than Rainbow. It’s like night and day between the two. I’ve been using them for almost 4 years now and I have been very satisfied. Just thought I would let you know…

As far as the mealworms being small just keep them warm and well fed and they’ll grow.

right now the least of my worries is the mealworms! i gave the leos a day to settle in but they dont feel like eating i guess (could it be the size? or more likely they just need to chill somemore and i'm being paranoid  ). I'll stick 2 in the cage for them and if they eat them, i'll feed them more of that size. but i won't worry about it unless they go on a food strike for a more than a few days

No thanks, I have been using American Cricket Ranch for 3-4 years without too many issues... I order 10-20,000 mealies 5-10,000 crickets and supers and waxies by 1000 (off and on) weekly! The only problems have been enviromental (seriously hot in PHX and cool in San Diego)
I actually have my shipments flown in so I can order early AM and pick them up after work... thats service!

I forgot to add...
Tyler, don't expect them to eat till tonight. Leave them several worms and they will eat them when they are ready. Remember they are nocturnal and 1 night isn't enough time to "chill" as you put it.

yea, i give all of my herps 3 days to "chill" but thats for snakes, and they only eat once a week ;) I'll try to wiat patiently to see if they maintain a healthy appetite
