    I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

    So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

    But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

    Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

    I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

ive noticed that this past week my green iguana has turned a dark grayish color on his back and his back only. this was during his shedding, but stayed afterwards. i know hes done shedding, but could it be dead skin maybe? it wont peel off, maybe its some disease? please email me at [email protected]

i dont have a digital camera or a scanner. there is always a chance i could borrow one though
 
Yeah, I highly recommend pics... unfortunately everyone had there Psychic friends network card revoked when the government cracked down on the whole psychic thing. It's extremely hard to guesstimate at at it's health without seeing it and making an educated guess based upon pics is still just that, a guess without the stats of the iguana such as age, diet, temps, living space etc. Please include everything you possibly can or our ability to help is limited.
 
If a camera isn't an option take it to a vet, they can diagnose it for you. If you don't want to pay for a vet I'd highly suggest borrowing a camera.
 
Miss Cleo told me that the chances of seeing pics from you are slim to none. And that she also sees you ignoring the problem by not going to a vet........

Hmmm.... I really do not see this type of behavior being helpful to someone seeking assistance. Really makes those looking for help feel welcome and right at home no?

Anyways, yes without a photo or detailed description there is little we can assist you with. Please do your very best to describe your iguanas current condition the best you can, even surf the web for photos that may resemble the issue. I'll do my best to help you.

I know buddy....

Most of the members who have been around a while are used to it but I try to refrain from doing it to new visitors. Trust me, I'm one of the first to joke around just the same. With the new visitors who may not know we're joking it can essentially scare them away from a VERY valuable resource in this hobby. Fauna is a great asset when keepers and breeders alike need a place to come for information or to simply do some research on a potential purchase. The last thing you want to do is make them feel unwelcome.... Not to mention when greeting a new users inquiry with such comments it does not portray an accurate image. just my .02, wasn't meant as anything more than that :)

I simply asked for a photo.... Considering it was a new user I outright knew that they may not realise our help is limited unless we can actually SEE the issue he described. Had it been someone who has been a member for a while and should have known better, you can bet I would have been poking a bit of fun myself :)

Didn't mean to offend any of you guys, you may now resume your psychic readings...... lol

its a funny thing really. the dark spot on his back was just dead skin. the reason why i didnt understand it was because he shed well over a week ago, and left that behind. hes all fine now. seems strange that the day i buy a digital camera is the day its use is no longer needed. but i can still post pics of him. thanks for the concern. i have one other question now though, if anyone would like to help. my iguana is about 4 feet long, and i adopted him from a family that kept him in a 40 gallon tank. now hes in a 75 gallon, still not good enough for his size. im in the process of trying to find a much larger cage for him, if anyone is selling one please email me. i was wondering if my 150 watt basking spot bulb that provides only uva rays is suitable for him in there. it stays about 14 inches away from him at all times, and about 6 inches away when hes on his perch. any comments would be appreciated. please email me at [email protected]
 
nevermind, i reread the post and that should be pretty good for him, but try to get him exposed to natural sunlight at least once a week.

UVA only is not going to be good enough, the Iggy needs UVB as well. I recommend a reptisun 5.0 or 10.0 (10.0 preferred).

Miss Cleo would also recommend the 10.0 but at the previously stated charges listed above. Just trust me and take my free advice, I'd hate to see you waste $2k having Miss Cleo tell you the same thing from a tarot deck..... :hehe:
