    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Here is a big question. Do tegus starve for human affection? YES!! IMO, most reptiles tolerate handling, but for the most part, they would probably rather not be handled if given the choice. The Argentine tegus are much different. They do like human contact, as well as affection.

I am linking a video to this post, it shows that tegus do infact thrive for human affection. This video was made by a member here, his name is Rick Sisco, AKA theTegu. All honers of recognition go to him and his great work on the making of this video.

Yes, Rick done a dang good job making that, I like it very much. It shows just how tame they get.

Mark, you know you are going to get one!! :)

Also, don't forget to join the photo contest, you might win one free!!

Are females smaller then males? i really want one, but that male looks a little too big for me ( im 14). DO you HAVE to feed incests, or can i just do lots of mice and turcky and chicken and fish+ fruit?

The females are smaller than the males.

You can feed things instead of insects. Read my care sheet on this forum. I hope it helps.

I love my tegus, and my bigger female tegu loves to be around me, she taps on the door of her cage when she wants out (basically when I come home and if I'm sitting there). Then I let her out and she will come up and either lay by me, or if I'm moving around in my room, she will follow me. Also when I take her outside she will follow me around. They are great. -Art-

I agree Art!! They are awesome animals!!

That video is absolutely incredible! I realize tegus are pretty friendly, but is that kind of behaviour really representative of all B&W tegus or are those guys uniquely personable animals?

No not all B n W tegus, Colombian tegus do not get this tame. They are also called black n white tegus. But are not the true Argentine tegus. Argentine tegus can and do get this tame. If they are handled correctly, they will become dog tame as seen in this video. I have some that are more like a puppy than a reptile.
