    =====================

    I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

    So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

    But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

    Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

    I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    =====================
    Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

    And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

I thought this was impossible to prove.

Someone on KS is saying that they produced the worlds first Double Homo Las Vegas and Tremper Albino. I know you can prove out the het, but how can you prove that it can be homo for both traits? You can't! Can you?

I'm not adding a link, cause I don't know if it's against the rules to add a link to another forum in here.

I'm not saying it's impossible to get, just impossible to prove. Am I right in my thinking?

You could prove it out by breeding it to both a tremper and a LV...if you get albinos from both strains...its double recessive.

If the animal is a double homo, you will get 100% albino babies when bred to each strain. If it were just a het you would only get 50% albino babies and 50% would be hets.

If it was homo for one and het for the other when bred with the homo one you would get ALL albino babies, with the het you could get about half albinos and half normals het for albino.

if 100% of babies are albino is double homozygous, if it were het for one of the albinos then their offspring would be 50% albino.

I don't know which animal you are talking about for certain. I have seen a double that is Tremper and Rainwater. As well as a double that is Tremper and Bell. They are definately different looking. I am sure that a triple is only just around the corner.

Could you be more specific about where it is at on ks?

Oh yeah Jodi's done it! :) I've never seen photos myself...but I definitely believe he's telling the truth (and I know others here have seen them)!

I have no doubt he did it, I think many can do it. I just didn't think it could be proved out. Now I know. :)

Thank you all for helping me understand. I'm still learning the genetics stuff with these guys. It's like going back to school, but a lot more fun.

Call me a purist, but I'm not sure if I like the idea of crossing all the albino strains like that. I mean, what's the point? An albino is an albino, and I think it's incredibly cool that we found 3 strains (so far) in leopard geckos. I think this is unprecedented in captive reptiles. Why dilute such diversity? Maybe we should start holding onto our pure animals to make sure a few straight lines out there.

Jodi said that the animal looked similar to both strains, but others say the crosses look different? I'd like to see photos for sure!

I think it coud be extremely useful to have double or triple albinos (assuming people learned to be truthful and let you know when an animal might have such traits)...One male could be used to breed females of different strains to get albino babies from all the females. Also since the strains are mostly uncrossed, it would create a LOT of genetic diversity making for healthier animals.

I don't see what the point is to crossing them. If you breed a double albino male to a "single" albino female, all the babies will be albinos het for the other strain. Everything would get mixed up and soon there would be no way to tell the albino strains apart. As far as genetic diversity goes, I agree that is very important, but it is easily accomplished without breeding albino lines to each other. Just my $.02.

*edit - I am not knocking Jodi or anyone else for making the "double albinos", I can understand why they were produced initially. I wish there was a photo of one!

"If you breed double albino male to a "single" albino female, all the babies will be albinos het for the other strain."

yeah I dont' know why I didn't think of that.............lol my bad...

The reason i did the cross were to prove that all 3 strains were not compatable,and i was right.Then said hell i have the DH lets take it to the next level,so i did.
I do not do pics sorry.
The Tremper Rainwater DH does not look that much differnt.
The Bell Tremper DH does look odd but not that odd.
The Rainwater Bell DH should hatch this year by me.
As most of you know i no longer keep leos,but a very good buddy of mine here in Mn ownes all of the DH,but i am still working with them for the moment.I will try and get pics some time here in 2006,but i am very busy with new things and leos are not one of them.Still love the leos.
If anyone has Q just call 612.802.3980.
