In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I was just curious as to what all you guys have as far as emergency kits go? Because I live on the pacific north shore, my biggest fear is earthquakes, and forest fires, basicly stuff that requires quick evacuation and staying in a shelter. I keep enough deli cups for all my herps (teo leos and two WTFs), a few can-o-crickets, de-chloronated water and extra small dishes, and antibacterial cream incase of injuries, togther in a case under my bed. I've even gone as far as to do a drill to make sure I could get it togther quickly (it was part of a family escape plan thingy.... I also had to secure my cat...)! I also keep a few flat dark rocks that can be heated up with a propane stove to provide a little bit of heat.

So i was just wondering if anyone else has a kit? or am I just over prepared ( I guess it comes form being a Girl Guide for like 10 years!) is there anything i'm missing?

some hail mary's?

Interesting points...but alas the last evac we had here was when a swarm of Green Bay Packers came to town to play football. Fortunately, just hiding in the basement was all we needed and we all came out safe.

Emergency Evacs.

I live in so cal, and we were put on stand by evacuation last year with the Fires. So about 3 oclock in the morning I am woken up by my husband who says lets go start getting it together. We had everything non living packed up in the truck ready to go earlier that day, not really expecting it but just in case .

So ALL I had to do was grab my 18 Corn snakes and 23 Ball pythons from my reptile shed. Figured it would take me 10 minutes to throw everyone in pillow cases and load them into big rubbermaid containers.

Ok sounds good in theory.. Well it was 90+ degrees because of the fires and everything was smokey and our power was out. It took me 40 minutes to get them all put in pillow cases and loaded in the truck. It's really hard to hold a flashlight and get snakes put into pillowcase, when they are freaking out. Luckily the fire fighters got the fire in our immidiate area under control and we didn't have to leave, but we had to stay ready for 2 days we were ready.

These are the steps I have taken for next time..

Keep lanturns in my reptile shed. Its hard to hold a flash light and get your snakes into pillow cases.

Have extra bottled water and a couple bowels for the snakes

Have Pictures of all your snakes to help with identification when you return them to their boxes. If you have a lot, or have hets that are hard to ID.

I also keep a box of pillow cases and zip ties in the shed.

I hate to think what I would have lost if it had been an emergency with no extra time to grab the snakes.
