Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them.     Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

ETBs or GTP? Help

Currently intrested in owning areboreals, either a ETB or GTP. I heard ETBs(what i really want) go off feed and are finicky eaters and die easly, also heard there personality isnt the best. GTP i hear eat like pigs and are more freindly, although i dont intend to touch them that much. a little help pleasE? thank you
 
i'd suggest starting out with an amazon tree because their alot more hardy then the other two cheaper and not as sensitive to mistakes such as wrong temp wrong humidity etc. Thats my opinion. I started with atb's and am glad i did because if i didnt i'd have alot of dead etb's.

Nobody seems to have told the emeralds in my collection they are finicky eaters or that they are supposed have a bad personality!LOL The only times they seem to go off feed is when they are in shed or in the case of females, when gravid. I have heard of males going off feed after breeding but have never experienced it myself. I can imagine them going off feed when sick, but that is a good thing as emeralds are masters at hiding other symptoms and going off feed might be the only clue something is wrong.

Although I would agree this statement holds true for most fresh imports, I find that it is the exact opposite with well established, captive bred animals. Yes, you will pay more but in the long run it will be cheaper than "experimenting" with wc's. Been there, done that. Solid captive breds will give any other boa species a run for their money as far as hardiness is concerned provided they have the correct environmental conditions.

I would say go with the one that YOU find more interesting and more attractive. And when you do, BE SURE to be a captive bred specimen. As Dogboa said, being captive bred can make all the difference between a healthy robust animal and a catastrophe waiting to happen.
