In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

wondering if anyone knows anyone that breeds extremely dark dragons? the darker the better. im very interested in breeding a line of black dragons. maybe even black trans. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi. Me too! I think the ultimate dragon would be a pitch black dragon, black eyes, patternless. I have seen a picture of a black dragon several years ago. It was from a breeder in Europe. Cant seem to find that pic anywhere on the internet! Hopoe someone couyld shed some light on this. Bye

Cool picture

On the black dragon note, I thought this was awesome, is it photo-shopped..or just VERY angry lol

i think thats an Eastern Beardie. man, if i could get one of those....hahah really tho, where are the dark beardies at? ive heard of a few here and there, even some people talking about breeding them. i cant seem to find any of these posts anymore tho. basically, i need some really dark normals to get started. and i know its going to be a long time before i could produce a true black or melanistic dragon, but i gotta start somewhere dont i?

All the "dark/melanistic" dragons I've seen have been eastern, I've even seen some dark blue-ish ones! I would imagine the whole black trans idea could be started from scratch, with dark normals, or even some more work on the purple trans lines. Ive seen some of bloodbanks photos on their website with some melanistic hatchlings from non melanistic parents, maybe Steve Barnes could help you! I hope you succeed eventually, I would melt for pure black dragons, just like I do for my pure whites! :p

yea ive def. seen some crazy things on their website. i think im going to start searching the local pet stores for normals. although, its like impossible to find them these days. even petco over here had a beautiful pale hypo not too long ago. but i think one of their managers is a breeder.

I suspect a lot of the purple in "purples" are really just blood showing through really clear trans. I've thought about dark beardies plenty, and would actually avoid trans just to avoid confusion on what your seeing as "dark".

and yes, that looks like an eastern in the pic. The pictures I've seen tend to have the beard that wraps around the face like that. oh how I wish we had them :(

I don't believe that is an Eastern Bearded Dragon, P. Barbata. It looks like a P. vitticeps...plus the picture is labeled "central bearded dragon", which is P. vitticeps...!

oh, i agree kevin, that does look much more central that eastern, and from all the shots of wild vitticeps I've seen, they seem to be darker in the wild, but perhaps its their thermo regulation. for some reason, my paper white hypo girl would get that black in only natural sunlight, never knew why.
on topic though, i find that eastern dragons seem to be almost all black or blue-ish, including their sides and down their spine. :)

Well, besides the beard wrapping the head like I mentioned, there is also the yellow mouth which I've read is more of an eastern trait. And the ample side spikes which I've also read is an eastern trait. The side spikes even appear to go down his tail, which I haven't read about, so doesn't necessarily mean eastern, but leads me to think surely not central.

Its pretty cool looking regardless of what it is :)

heres a pic

Saved this awhile ago from another thread on black dragons. I would love to have a dragon this black!

On a side note- regarding the eastern beardies. I have talked to some breeders who think that there is eastern influence in the marketed leusistics. Due to some of them having bright yellow mouths. Not sure if its true but just a theory floating around.

Josh I didnt produce it. I saved the pic from a thread on black dragons from another forum. Its from awhile ago(maybe 2 yrs ago). I cant remember off hand if it was a trans or not, sorry.

Ive had trans that were really really dark almost black, but not as black as that one. I sold them before I had a chance to see how they developed . . .

No worries:) It looks trans, and the eyes also look dark. Some of the paradox transluscents will hatch really dark like that, and later turn a dark purple color with spots of red/orange/yellow.

Josh
