In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

My poor little gecko (this is the one who had his penis amputated due to a prolapse) seems to have some difficulty seeing.

About two weeks ago i found a hard yellow "film" encased over his eyes. It's alot like the crusty "sleep" that gets into our own eyes except alittle gooey ont he side with contact of his eye. I noticed the film after it seemed that he was bumping into objects in his cage. I was able to remove the hard yellow caseing from around (and under) his eyes with a pair of tweezers. I will post pictures later of these big yellow things. Anyways, he seemed ok and was able to move freely in his cage, so i went on vacation thinking he's fine and it was just a piece of shed.

So i came back the other day and his eyes are shut and i just pulled out alittle bit of this yellow film. He has a slight cloudyness in his eyes

Can someone suggest an over the counter treatment for my little guy? I already spent $300 amputating his penis off, spending another $100 to take him to the vet is just overboard for an eye infection

Try rinsing it several times a day with an over-the-counter saline solution. That should help to ward off infection and keep any crust from forming. If it is an infection, you should be able to call the vet and explain it (since you were in recently) and they should be able to supply you with a bottle of antibiotic eye drops at much less than the cost of another visit.

Geckogardener-

I bought CVS brand Sterile Saline Solution for sensitive eyes. (use for rinsing, storage and heat/thermal disinfection)

this is the right stuff, right?

That should work fine. If an infection has not already set in, rinsing with that should help it to heal on it's own. If you see any yellow goo after the first few rinses, then it may be infected and need antibiotic drops.

The cloudiness in the eyes could be from damage. If you keep your leo on sand, get it out of there immediately. The grit sticks to the goo and scratches the cornea. Once that happens, you have a tougher time getting any real improvement, since the scars are permanent.

Marcia had recently reccomended terramycin for an eye infection i was dealing with. there looked to be a decent amout of damage by the time he was brought to me, eyes completely cloudy and yellow junk too. treatment is going great.

its an antibiotic ointment for the eyes. i suggest you get some asap if you want to increase your chances of saving his vision.

just to add i beleive the leo i was referencing developed the problem due to a bad shed (his head and eyes still had skin stuck when he was brought to me). he was not given a moist hide.

I've been doing the saline solution, it's helping but the stuff does come back after a few days. Where canI buy terramycin for a gecko? I see it listed for a cat or a dog at 1-800-pet-meds, but no gecko. Do you know if there is a special one made for geckos?

I remember not too long ago my cat got runny eyes from a cold she got, they might of prescribed her terramycin. When i get home i'll check, but if it is made for cats, think it'll work on a gecko?

i got mine off beanfarm.com. its the same stuff used for cats and what not (the package insert reference cats and dogs but not geckos). cost me $24 or so. i only wish i paid to next day air it cuz sooner would have been better. i would definatly hurry. if there is an infection (yellow goo sounds like an infection) i doubt the saline is gonna solve it although im sure it helps.
