    =====================

    I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

    So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

    But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

    Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

    I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    =====================
    Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

    And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Ive got 2 questions

1. How can i get my beetles to stand upright without falling over like a turtle and not getting up? I don't want to add huge chunks to my substrate though.

2. How can i get my mice to breed? They just wont do it, its been like 2 months now, i have 1.2 mice on bedding and feed them grain food and dogfood and cereals and stuff and give them water in one of those water things. And they have a wheel and a big hide things.

Thanks in advance, Paul

What

Temps are you keeping them at?? Mine are just starting to pick up, the mice usually slow down in the cooler temps, whereas the rats pretty much keep breeding all the way down to 40 degrees, although they don't breed as well at that temp... Mike

its about 68-70 degrees. I had a different female with the male, she gave me 4, then a few weeks later she was killed by another mouse.

My only guess is to try separating the male. I think it's kinda like geckos. Males will be more willing to mate if they have been separated for a while.

I dont know about mice. The beetles, you can just give them a paper towel though. They will use it to right themselves.

Alright, will do, will they lay egs on the paper towel??? Thanks Dan

Not sure, they might if you mist the towel everyday. Thats actually recommended. Just be careful not to get the bedding wet. I let mine lay on the carrots, since they dry up and do not mold.

Mice are easier to breed than leos.... LOL..... Males do not need to be away from the females in order to trigger breeding..... All you need to do is put males and females together and you will wind up with more mice than you know what to do with....

It is extremely discouraged to disrupt a colony of mice by removing any of the group. Introduction (or reintroduction if a member of the group was removed) can cause cannibalism. It can take a few months for a colony to settle in and produce a steady stream of offspring. It's also not unusual to loose the first few litters to cannibalism from the mother or her cage mates. Cooler temperatures are ideal for stimulating breeding (65-70 degrees), during the warmer months (if not in a controlled environment), reproduction slows.

I also would discourage the use of grain/seed diets. It's better to use a lab block diet and supplement with cereals. It also doesn't hurt to feed them dog food, as long as you check the ingredients carefully and avoid those with red dye.

As to the beetles...I wouldn't have a clue... ;)

I had a group of 1.2 together for since November, i got 4 babies from my black female, 2 of which were stills, she ate one, and one lived, which my gecko got. Then a week later the other female killed her. I guess mice are kind of like wolves, well anyways, i got a new mouse, and put it in with the killer mouse and my male. They all got along absolutely perfectly. Fast forwary to the end of March, i still had no babies. The temp in my basement is a steady 68 degrees, but they don't get a lot of light. I feed them a mix of crushed up dog food, mini wheets, total, all mixed together. They also get an occasional mealworm. I brought in a new male, on the 19th of March, because my first males testes were like bleeding, i think the females were getting a little fiesty :hehe: . I hope he will get the job done.
