In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I've been noticing a lot of people lately feeding their dragon mice pinkies... I was under the impression they are not good for them, and have calcium, but not the best source of calcium. Also, that they are only recommended very sparingly with gravid or post gravid females( fatten them).

I am just wondering why people want to feed them to their dragons :shrug01:

personally i won't feed it,but some breeders feed it to there females after they give birth to up there weight again.

Just a FYI, it can and most likely will make your dragons mean. Not always, but most of the time.

Just something to keep in mind if you were thinking about doing this...

How so can it make them mean? I couldn't tell you scientifically but from personal experience it has seemed to make them blood hungry feeder attacking anything that goes into the cage, including hands and water dish's.

That should read: *it seemed to make them blood hungry feeder's

Ive always fed beardies pinkies in the past... they dont change anything whether your doing dubia.... supers or pinkies... I think yours just is a coincidence.

It's happened with more than one, but it definitely could be though:shrug01:

As to why, for me it is a cost and simplicity. Please understand I am NOT a beardie breeder. I have had couple for pets and have worked with many at a local pet store. (Which is actually where I first saw pinkies/hoppers fed to dragons) So instead of having 500-1000 crickets, and dealing with them or worms, I would feed lots of greens and a hopper every week or so. We also gave some Phoenix worms during the week but it didn't have to be a crazy amount. My cost to feed went from 20.00 wk or so to about 5.00:thumbsup:

Yes, I feed a hopper, sometimes two a week. Then I give him greens and Phoenix worms daily. I was making the point that a thing of Phoenix worms lasts a week or so, they live longer, and don't stink. They are also much cheaper rather than going through a bunch of crickets for one dragon.

Should I be doing more?

why not just use dubai ez to breed no smell and u can sell the extras to make money instead of spending it
yeah i know i hate looking at roaches also but seems to be the best way

Because I am feeding one dragon lol No point in starting a colony. He was a rescue I took in just so he didn't die. I am not starting a dubia colony for him lol. He is fat and happy just how he is :)

you only feed pinkies when you going to breed your dragons. if your not theres no reason to do it. it doesnt hurt your dragon it just helps them faten up. i feed my females pinkies in the breeding season.

It's a bad and unhealthy idea. Insect fat is mostly unsaturated, whereas the fats in mammals are saturated.

I dont know about no smell, get a few thousand going...They have a definite odor but is usually contained with in their tote.

I dont care much for pinkies for various reasons, frozen or live. Some breeders will use them for females while gravid or after, but there are definitely better food sources whether as a treat or a staple.
