    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Feeding Rosys after having babies

How long do you have to feed a Rosy that just had babies before it has gained enough weight to be safe to put it in hibernation?
 
Why would you want to hibernate a female who just gave you babies?
You should feed her weekly, for atleast 4-5 months. More than likely, it should be about 8-10 months until you hibernate her again. So she can have a nice long time to recover. Females shouldnt be breed more than once in a calendar year.
 
my female just gave birf 2 months ago and has plenty of weights to be cooled again at the end of this month but she has this year off
but then again right after she gave birf she looked jsut like she did before giving birf
got lucky i guess

Hey Michael,
First off, rosies can only breed once a year, and they breed in the spring. You can breed rosies every year if they have proper weight. You can put weight back on a female rosy in 4 - 6 weeks after they give birth. Why would you say to feed for a good 8 months and then cool. ???? Are you going to cool your boas in the summertime and then try and breeding them after breeding season is over? I dont understand what you are trying to say..
 
i think mike meant give her a year off and let her rest
no need to burn the poor snake out breeding her non stop

Im dont believe in breeding animals yearly. It can be very stressful on the snakes. Even if she looks big enough, thats not the only factor.
I like letting them have a year off. This ensures not only good health in her, but good health in the babies as well.
