    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Female not Laying

My female gecko appears to be gravid, and I am almost positive she is. But...she doesn't want to lay her eggs at all. She has had them for awhile. It eats fine, and there is nothing that appears wrong with it, it just seems like she doesn't want to lay the eggs. I do have a laying box, and this is her third pair of eggs. Thanks -Jon
 
exactly how long has she been carrying eggs?, somtimes females hold their eggs longer than others, as long as she is eating and getting enough calcium and has a proper lay box she shouldnt become eggbound

also, what are her temps at?
 
Cage temps are 85 degrees. She has had them in her for about 3 weeks. Last time she laid them in about two. Thanks for the reply -Jon
 
Ithink he means since he has been able to see the eggs in her not since she laid her last clutch...I could be wrong...wouldn't be the first time..nor will it be the last. :hehe:

As long as she's eating and holding weight I wouldn't worry. Last year I had a female, mid season lay two clutches 10 days apart. I was pretty surprised by the quick turn around! She waited a long time to lay her next clutch after that.

Serious? Hmmm... yanno I should look at my records and see what my girls were laying at last year. I think my girls go about every 18-21 days.
 
I have 2 that have laid twice with the 2nd clutch being 12 and 16 days after the first one, my others are on their first clutch or just laid the first this week.
 
The 10 day thing was not her normal pattern, she had been laying every two to three weeks.

i too have had them lay as soon as 13-15 days from the last laying . also one of the females that did that , did it twice and then took a whole 4 and a half weeks on her fourth clutch . pretty strange i thought , but i guess it happens
 
I had a female that laid a clutch in a day or two less than 2 weeks...caught me off guard....only 1 of the 2 made it because I checked the egg box a couple days after she laid them(one became too dehydrated). I wasn't expecting that kind of speed.
 
I wonder if when they lay this quickly if the development of eggs actually overlap each other? I find it hard to believe that viable eggs were able to fully develop in 10-12 days... of course this is mother nature we are dealing with!
 
so far each female that has layed for me has gone 15-20 days inbetween clutches, and only one infertile egg
 
When the female laid the clutch in around 12 days, it was after laying an infertile clutch 12 days earlier. Maybe that had something to do with it? She continues to lay around every 2 weeks though, and I have others that lay about every 2 1/2 weeks.
 
Gene, Most of my females lay every 20 days or so but I have one femal that lays every 14 days like clock work.....

Back to the topic.... If she was realy that geavid, I would think she would not be eating normaly.... She could be in the early stages of being gravid, she could just be ovulating or she might just be fat.....
