Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Here is my experience with Gen-X.
A couple of weeks back he posted CBB Timor Monitors for sale on KS. I posted an inquiry on the BOI but never recieved a response. After emailing him a few times he sent me his phone number and I called him to work out the details. During the course of our conversation he said he has many big name references and began to name them. Of those named I only recognized 2 of the names. Greg Maxwell, and Trooper Walsh. I decided to check his references before sending payment and this is what I was told.
First I called Greg, and he said he had no recollection of a Chris Robinson or a Gen-x Reptiles. When I called Chris to question him about the fact that his reference was no good and he continued to maintain that he sells to "all the big names" and once again mentioned Trooper Walsh. I called Trooper that night and he said the same thing Greg said. He didnt know a Chris Robinson or Gen-X Reptiles.
He sounded like a nice kid but since his references didnt pan out I decided not to buy from him. I wish someone would come forward with a good guy post, but of the 3 inquiries on him thus far, I am the only one who has replied.

My cousin just purchased an Aru type GTP from Gen-X. Whoever he dealt with at Gen-X would not discuss any details of this snake via email. Perhaps he doesn't like to type, or maybe he doesn't want any evidence of misdealings...who knows.
The GTP was supposed to be 5'. It was about 3 1/2' tops. The snake looks wild caught but, was supposedly purchased from a German breeder. It was sold to my cousin as a female, but I thought I saw a hemipenis partially evert when my cousin and I removed the snake from the shipping bag. We have yet to have it probed.
I saw another ad from Gen-X and didn't catch the fact that it was the same dealer right away. I emailed him several questions about the GTP in that ad, to which his reply was a phone number and request to call him. I happend to mention the ad to my cousin and he asked if I had heard back from him. I told him about the phone number in the email and he asked if it was Gen-X. I checked and found out that it was, thus furthering my suspicion of the email avoidence.
I must say that in initial appearance the Aru my cousin received seems healthy however, not what was promised. I think I will wait to see how the Aru turns out before I purchase anything from Gen-X.

I was interested in working out a local trade with Chris Robinson (Gen-X Reptiles) recently as I am downsizing and he lives no more than two hours away. I e-mailed him asking him questions about one of his GTP's and he reptiled for me to call him several times. While I was checking my mail, I received an instant message asking whether I was going to call.
I decided to ask him questions about the animal right there and proceeded to do so. Everything sounded okay to me except that when I asked if he had the German paperwork, he reptiled with the following (copied from the record): YES PUT NUMBERS A BLOCKED OUT BECAUSE I DONT GIVE MY BROKERS NAME OR ADDRESS OUT
Because I have no experience with foreign sellers, I did not know what to think of that and it could very well be common practice. All I got was a message emailed to me asking for my number. "I want the carpet what's your number."
That was the message, no name attached to it. I didn't even know who I was dealing with at the time. Not to mention, I was offering a diamond python for sale or trade, NOT a carpet python. He couldn't seem to get the snake right.
I really don't just hand out my number to anyone, and certainly not to a person where I don't even know their first name from an email. So, he emailed back the next day and left his number.
My wife was looking through the classifieds on KS and came across someone wanting to trade GTP's for a range of snakes and as fate would have it, it was the same number. That's the ONLY reason I found out it was Gen-X-Reptiles.
If they have been in the business for seven years or more as one person stated they said, I would of thought they'd learnt a few business skills along the way.
I thought it was unprofessional of them to contact in such away and not even let you know who they were or even who the person emailing was. Nor could they or he get the species of animal I was offering right.

While Chris was telling me how long he was in the business and how many customers he had, he told me this story as well. He was claiming to be the biggest importer of Chondros around (and very well may be, but that is irrelevent) and said that he sold Trooper Walsh his "ALL BLUE" Chondro. When I asked his references about the origin of that snake I recieved this from Greg Maxwell.
So, I confronted Chris about this and he sent me the following message.
At this point new references were of no use to me as I allready called the two reputable people he mentioned and came back with nothing. He still insists in the email above that he will prove that he did business with Greg and Trooper. The last conversation I had with Chris he told me that there is a big "Chondro Conspiracy" and that is why no one will admit they deal with him. He told me he was going to reveal it here on the B.O.I. That was on Super Bowl Sunday. I have not heard from him since.

I am posting this on behalf of my roommate who ordered a Timor Monitor from Chris Robinson...
"I purchased a CB timor monitor from Chris last week and I have been very pleased. I paypaled him the money for the animal and it was at my dorm the next day at 9:30 am. It looks very healthy and is eating well. It was the about the exact size that he told me it was going to be. It was packed very well, in a very large box with styrofoam lining and heat packs. It is still pretty skittish (from what I've heard Timors take some time to calm down), but I'm very happy with my purchase."
To add my two cents to this, the animal was packed very well and looks pretty healthy to me. I talked to him on the phone some (my roommate has no prior dealings at all with herps, this was his first 'cold-blooded' critter) and he seemed to be pretty nice.

My mistake...
My cousin corrected me on the promised length of the Aru purchased from Gen-X. I stated that it should have been 5'; it was actually promised to be 4'. I appologise for the mistake.
Still, the snake was smaller than expected, and appeared to be wild caught instead of cb.
