dealings with chris

I recently bought a female aussi water dragon from him and i must say it was everything he told me. he got backed to me qucikly and i recvied the animal propmptly. he even called to make sure the animal was alright. i dont even get this from lll reptiles. i would do bussniess with again. and as far as not giving out his contact in germany, you have to realize he is a bussniess, you dont goto walmart and ask for thier suppliers do you.

First of all there is a big difference between Gen-X and Walmart. Walmart is established so why would you be asking for any information from them? Secondly, nobody asked him for his German contacts information. I have copied and pasted the post below so you can read exactly what was said.

Because I have no experience with foreign sellers, I did not know what to think of that and it could very well be common practice. However, I was still concerned about bringing home a solid GTP to work with and I then said: Okay.. does she feed on frozen/thawed and do you offer any kind of health guarantee? This has nothing to do with where Chris gets his reptiles. This is about finding SOLID and ESTABLISHED references for him. Lauren didnt decide not to buy from him because he wouldnt give out his German Suppliers information. She didnt buy from him because there were no references for him. See, its like this. If Chris would have asked me to call you as a reference, we wouldnt be here right now as you would have verified that Chris is a good guy. But Chris didnt give me your name. He gave me Trooper and Greg, neither of which has ever done business with him.

GENX reptiles.

I purchased several Brown Burmese Mountain Tortoises from Chris about 6 weeks ago. They are all healthy; they were shipped promptly and professionally. I couldn't have asked for more. The discussions all seem to be gossipy and driven by innuendo and communication difficulties. Perhaps everyone needs to step back, take a deep breath, and start over.

Nothing personal to the individuals posting, if they are in fact individuals... But someone who falsely name drops refferences is probably not above creating false login names. A simple IP check when the moderators get a few moments will clear up that situation.

There's another person posting in support of Gen X http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/forums/search.php?s=&action=showresults&searchid=91045 is a search for the posts made by that login name... Only thing is, Massachusetts requires permits for both Chondros and African Rocks, the permit applications aren't that easy to get, most applicants are rejected... And even if they're granted, there are very strict restrictions placed on what can be done with those animals, anyone selling a chondro or african rock out of Massachusetts is asking for a load of trouble.

Credibility is something of an issue here, if everything is legitimate, then the scrutiny won't hurt anyone, if things are less than honest, it'll be made known.

Incidentally the number given 386-454-8885 belongs to a George L Willaims, not anyone named Chris... Might be nothing, but there's a lot of circumstance that creates suspicion here.

So, I have no clue what the story is now, I hope the IP is checked, the spelling and wording are VERY similar.

Scott, I just used a reverse lookup, mostly because I was curious as to the poster's location- their profile doesn't list a state- that was the result I got, with the address matching the town he has listed. I only used a single source though, it might be out of date or inaccurate...

Things simply make me curious.

I private messaged a couple of the moderators, hopefully they can show up to clarify the situation. It may very well be nothing of note but there exists some confusion.

Are Trooper and Greg involved in some damon heynen-like conspiracy to keep you down? Are they lying? They both really buy tons of animals from you, but are really actually jealous of you? Now they are trying to make you look stupid (you can handle that on your own)?

Explain to us why the references that YOU chose to give out have never heard of you? DO NOT DODGE THIS QUESTION!

Why is that guy's supposedly CB 4 foot Chondro actually 3 feet and WC?

And, here is my favourite: you give out the number (386) 454-8885. Your name is chris robinson? Then, who is George Williams? A search of the 'net says that is his number. Is this another one of your eisemann-like incarnations. Will noah watanabe come on here as one of your references?

i don't know how you check to verify who we are, but we are on the west coast in washington state. I kind of find it weird that someone would go out of their way to create ficticious name and loggins in order to better themselves. I don't think most people would go this far with this. hopefully this situation resolves and maybe you should just call him at the number listed and see if he is there. Sometimes people have roommates and the phone is in their name. check on that and see. lots of these people run businesses out of their homes, i know of several who do. just check things out thoroughly before ruining someones reputation as a decent or indecent person. give the guy a chance first.

The problem is that others have before, entirely for personal gain.

I think everyone has given Gen-X-Reptiles the benefit of the doubt on their legitimacy but desire explanations why two well known names given as references do not know them. This has raised warning flags and justifiably so.

I believe he is being honest about the people who have posted here tonight. When I first got into the hobby, I would have done the same thing. I would have contacted my customers and asked them to post on the BOI on my behalf. The only problem I see so far is that these are all recent sales. I have been breeding and selling reptiles for over 10 years. I can tell you with certainty that I wouldnt be asking the customers I have only had for a month to post a reference on the BOI for me.

You obviously do not have that good of a memory Chris. For the second time, my name is Mike, not Matt. As for Trooper and Greg, you gave me thier names when you were telling me all of the people you sell to. Now you are acting like you didnt tell me thier names in our conversation. Regardless, here are the facts. I called them and they said they dont know you. I then sent you the following email on Jan. 31.

Hey Chris. You seem like a really nice guy, and I have enjoyed speaking with you over the last couple of days. In our conversations you have mentioned your references twice and both times you mentioned the names of Trooper Walsh and Greg Maxwell. I took it upon myself to call both of them today to verify that you have done business with them before I sent payment to someone I dont know. Well, they both said they have never heard of you. Trooper said that he has seen your ads, but that he has never done business with you. And Maxwell gauranteed me that he has never done business with you. While it is entirely possible that these guys just dont remember you, I have to cover myself. I also posted an inquiry on the B.O.I asking for info on you but nobody has responded in the last 3 days. At this point I am still willing to purchase the monitors from you. However, the only way I will do it is if you ship first. I will be happy to send you a payment for shipping, and I will send the balance after I recieve the animals in good condition. If that is not acceptable to you then I understand. Unfortunately that is the only way I will proceed. If you want my references, just ask. I will fill your inbox FULL of references that will verify I who I am. This is not personal Chris and I hope you do not think I am attacking your credibility. I am just trying to cover myself. Im sure after all you have shared with me that you can relate to that. It was the last time we talked because you called my house at least 15 times on Super Bowl Sunday but I had company over and didnt feel like discussing business so I screened my calls. I only answered after you stopped calling from the number registered to Gary Rhodes and called from a private number. My mother is the only person that calls me with a private number so I answered. It was you, obviously hip to the fact I was screening my calls. You wanted to talk about my email and gave me the name of Bill Cagle as a reference. I told you I was entertaining company and I would check up on Bill Cagle and would call you the following day. Well, I checked the BOI on Bill Cagle and decided that I was taking a risk using him as a reference. I do not know him, I only know what I read.

I truly hope that these references do pan out Chris. I have said from the begining that I thought you were a cool guy to talk to, and I have treated you with nothing but respect in our correspondence. As I wrote in my email, this is not personal. Somebody inquired and I shared my experience with them. Both my email and your response are proof that you told me that Trooper and Greg were your customers. The reason I didnt buy from you is because they said they dont know you and I didnt want to take the advice of Bill Cagle to prove you were legit.

In your response to my email you said you would prove that you have done business with both of them. But when I ask you to verify it here, you try to say you never gave them as reference. I believe that your email posted above directly contradicts that claim.

I will be satisfied Chris if you will answer the following questions.

1. Why are you posting here that you didnt give me the names of Trooper and Greg as references?

2. Where is the proof you offered in your email that you claim will prove that you have done business with the guys that you now claim you didnt give me the names of?

3. Why did you tell me that Trooper got his All Blue Chondro from you?

4.If you have been doing business for so long, why are you asking people that are new to the hobby to post here in your favor?

5. When we were discussing the Green Tree Monitors that were recently posted on KS why did you tell me that the guy who posted those was full of sh*t because those were actualy your animals and were not even in the country?

6. Why did you quickly change the subject when I explained to you that I have known the guy who posted the Green Tree Monitors for 10 years and I have known the guy who shipped them here from Indo for just as long and that I knew for fact they were in the country?

7. Who is Gary Rhodes?

8. What is the "Chondro Conspiracy" that you told me you were going to post here on the BOI?

There are many more questions I would like to discuss with you regarding our phone conversations that I will save for another day. I believe I have treated you extremely fair and will continue to do so. However, I believe that the answers to the above questions are imperitive to the outcome of this thread.
