    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Getting rid of flying squirrels

Genreally im an animal lover and ive raised flying squirrels in the past but now i have wild ones infesting my home. I live in a wood sided house that is somewhat structured like an a frame sitting ontop a full level so its pretty tall about 35+ feet . And low and behold but what has decided to knaw a hole in the siding to get to the attic area but flying squirrels. I repared the two holes that they originally made and figured they would scurry out into the house and there i could trap them but no such luck , instead they made a new hole. I would venture into the attic but i have vaulted cielings in my house and the side they are in doesnt really even have an attic. How do i rid myself of these mini siding beavers? Obviously fixing the hole isnt going to do me any good as ill have to do it during the day and they will be trapped inside and im not exactly fond of heights so im getting tired of fixing thier damage. Is there anything they really dont like, something that would make thier living conditions unbearable to them?
 
You may want to call a pest control company, and see if they have any ideas, or can remove them for you...

One thing you can try is getting 'humane' live animal traps, and placing food in those, up in the attic, and check them several times a day, especially first thing in the morning. Or put them somewhere outside where the squirrels would go near looking for food.

They often find a small opening and will chew a wider hole to gain access to the building. They bring nesting material into the home, and make quite a bit of noise scurrying around and caching nuts.
Squirrels can cause a fire hazard in homes by bringing in nesting material, and by chewing on power lines.

Squirrels can also cause significant damage to crops, particularly when in large numbers.

You can find animal control specialists in your area that know how to "live" catch and move the animals. Just look under "animal control" in the yellow pages or online. Hope this helps. Melonie
