    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Giant Leos are they a Simple Recessive?

Ok I am trying to get as much info on the Giants as I can. Up untill now I have been under the impression that they were a simple recessive gene. That being the case it would mean that they could, eventualy, be bred in all currant morphs.

However, after reading some of the posts on here I am starting to wonder if this is in fact the case.

I have seen post stating that Ron Tremper has even said that a Giant RW PA would be almost imposable. Another post said that a breeder that had bread Giant x Giant produced non Giants in the offspring.

Before I make the investment (money, time, and emotional) into this morph I would like to hear those more involved with them opinions. Is the Giant a simple recessive or not?

Ron himself said they are, if I remember correctly. As far a RW PA these gaints are trempor albino line why woudl you want to do RW albinos instead of Trempor PA? Now soem morphs liek blizzards are hard to mix with other maybe thats why he has said its impossible.

The trait is co-dominant. A giant to a normal will give you 1 giant 1 normal. It is not recessive at all.

Question 7 : Is this trait a simple recessive?


No. For the first two years we thought the gene acted as a simple recessive, but when customers began breeding with only one Giant parent and when we repeated our test breedings, it was found found that the Giant trait is a true co-dominant gene. Meaning that you can get some larger "intermediate" sized Giant offspring produced from only one parent carrying the Giant gene. The largest Giants are called Super Giants - Moose's line.
