• Responding to email notices you receive.

In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Government shutdown?

It is what it is, but certainly not what it was.

They tell me that the federal government is shut down. But honestly, I don't see any differences in my day to day stuff. Anyone else being affected by this?

Yes. ATF is not processing F2's and F3's at a very slow rate, which is affecting sales and transfers of Title II firearms to other dealers. F1's and F4's aren't being worked at all.

At my day job there are people who need to give me information/direction on bugs submitted for the information systems and applications that I support, and they aren't there.

Hmm, are the NICS call-ins still being processed for transfers?

FBI NICS is up and running, though delays are more frequent and for the few customers who don't have CHL's we're on hold more.

Licensing and NFA are down, tracing Center is running.

Interesting, got this in an email today:

Beginning Monday, January 21, 2019, the NICS Section will receive customer service calls from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Monday thru Friday.

This is going to totally screw with gun shows.

Does that mean they are not accepting call-ins for the NICS checks during weekends? Or calls outside of that function?

Well, so much for the Second Amendment being a right "of the people" instead of a government controlled privilege....

Quite frankly, I have always felt that the federal government has absolutely no jurisdiction over a gun dealer selling locally within state lines to their customers. But that is just me, I guess.

Dealers can use eNICS 24-7 but connectivity at gun shows is hit or miss. I also don't use it as I don't exactly trust putting customer data "on the wire". Probably because of my day job, data security is big and I store all that on an encrypted local drive.
