    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

A couple of months ago, I purchase a pair of baby Dumeril's Boas from Alex Quiles of A & J's Snakes out of Pine Bush,NY. I got a great price on them but I ended up paying the price in that my female refuses to eat. I emailed and called Alex but none of his suggestions worked. Bob Clark gave me some of his Dumeril's Boa tips but they didn't work either :( It has gotten to a point that Alex does not return my phone calls or my emails. Guess I'm on my own....Beware of A & J's Snakes I guess.

Can anyone give me some suggestions to help save this snake? I did force feed her a few pinkies to keep her going. She is quite active and did shed once. I left a mouse fuzzy in her cage over night, I tried a large rat pinkie as well. She shows NO interest.

Right now she is in a large rubbermaid tup with 1.5 inches of Aspen. Large waterbowl with a heating pad over 1/5 of the bottom at about 85 degrees. She is housed alone. Any suggestions would help. Thanks.

Try a product called "mouse maker" it worked for my FWC's. Also maybe try putting her in a smaller tub for just feeding, cover it with a towel or something so she can't be seen, that works for my shyer feeding boas.

How big is the snake? How big is the rubbermaid? Is it the heating pad that is about 85 degrees, or the enclosure temp. Have you been trying to feed live or f/t? What are you trying to feed them (mice or rats, and what size?). **oops, I really did read your post...twice now.
For my part, I will comment that pinkies and fuzzies are likely to be of little interest, and it is hit or miss with the rat pink. If you haven't already done so, try offering a live mouse...a small adult (or a large adult, depending on the size of the snake. I will comment more once I see your responses to the above questions

I will definately give the "mouse maker" product a try! There are a couple of reptiles speciality shops in Colorado Springs. The snake is only about 13 inches long. The male is from the same litter and ALOT bigger since he does eat on his own. The rubermaid tub is about 33L. Maybe 13 inches wides by 21 inches long. 5 inches high? The enclosure temp is close to 85 degrees at one end and 73 degrees at the cooler end. She tends to lean more toward the cooler end. I have only been trying to offer live fuzzies or hoppers. I tried a large rat pinkie/fuzzie once. I left them in her cage overnight...no interest at all. I do try to leave her alone as much as possible. Again, she is still pretty active in crawling out of the cage once I touch her lol

how long has it been since she ate ? i have a female that goes on strike from time to time more on then off ,she had gone amonth and ahalf without eating but she eventually eats shes only about 6 months old now and i have had her since she was only a month old and shes been like that i found keeping her in a smaller enclosure and giving her plenty places to hide and enough to bury herself it seems all that works well until she has something else to complain about I'm not big on feeding live but she seems to eat them easier i feed her rat pups what i do is even now that shes in a smaller enclosure when its feeding time i coax her into a hide if i can ...and then when shes not looking i place the pup in there i then place a towel over the whole thing and cross my fingers .i don't know about the force feeding and all i would just keep trying to feed her but wait acouple days after you tried the last time if you try it to often it could be stressing her out ,i see as long as she isn't losing weight shes ok trust me she will come around when shes hungry good luck

I am inclined to suggest that your temps are a bit on the low side. While dums do not require high temps (or even particularly seem to like them), I think you have too little warm area & your cool area is too cool. Moving the snake to a smaller enclosure temporarily may be of some help - offering both more security and better temperatures. My other suggestion is that you should offer larger prey items - for whatever reason (in my experience) dums don't seem interested in the smaller stuff. I have had the best success using large hoppers to small adults with neonates. This year, one of my babies took f/t rats (starting with pinks, of course) pretty much from the start...but he refused mice of any size - live, f/k or f/t.

I purchased the mouse maker liquid. I will try it later this week. What are some signs to look for in reference to parasites? I'm going to increase the heat on the warmer end. I will also just try to stay with hopper mice. Any other suggestions??
