In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

OK first of all, I have what i think is a male beardie dragon, His name is Beebop and he is around 11-12 inches long and about 8-9 months old. The other beardie I have is what i believe a female named Roxie. She is about 14 inches long. Her age is around 10-11 months old. They are both in the same 55 gallon tank. There is 2 basking place and 2 eating dishes. I heard from a lot of places that if you have 2 bearded dragon in the same tank, that one will become more dominant and make the other unable to eat and grow. I believe that is my case. However, the smaller 11 inch dragon is being the domiant of the two. I bough Roxie about 3 weeks ago and she was pretty plump full. I dont know why she doesn't eat as much as Beebop. I believe that this is happening because the Beebop was there first( in the cage ). However, when i feed the two crickets she is not shy to eat. I know i should probley get seperate tanks for the two of them.

Second thing i need help with is determining their sex. I have seen alot of body going on in the tank. Beebop will wave his arms and try try to climb on top of Roxie. Im not sure if both females and males wave there arms? But I have not seen Roxie wave her arm at all. When I first introduced the two i used a tank seperator to let them get to know each other for about 3 days. They were both clawing at the seperator so took the divider out. The only time i have seen Roxie do any kind of body language was about about 2 days after they were introduced and i guess they had a territorial scruffle. They did not bite each other or even attempt it. Just went in circles with ill bite your tale if you bite mine. I dont know. Im have no clue on there sexes. I need some help. Should i take them to the vet to get their sex determine. I DONT KNOW HWAT TO DO!

First seperate the dragons immediatly. They are at a breeding age, but they are too young and small to breed. If they breed now, it could cause your female to become egg bound. This means that she will not be able to lay the eggs and will have to have them surgically removed.

Also, you are right that its because of the other one in the cage, it does not mean they have to be dominant over food. Just the mere presence of a larger dragon will silently stress a dragon out.

Second both are too small for thier ages. So, if i may can i ask a few questions?

What do you feed it? how much of it do they eat?
Do you use uvb light? and do you calcium dust the food?

I would seperate them immediatly, if i was you. If they breed at that size and successfully lay eggs, the babies will not reach their maximum size, because of the adults being so small. My female petstore beardie right now is about the same age as your female beardie and has been at 19 inches for 2 months now. She hit 18 inches at 6 months old.

Also, do you have lights and cages for a normal clutch of 130 beardies? they lay 20-30+ at a time several times throughout the season. This is what you would face if they mated.

Also one more thing i just noticed. You said you just bought the female? did you get a fecal done on her? She could have parisites that is causing her not to eat as much. If you have not done a fecal and introduced another beardie to your existing beardie, you can infect both beardies.

First of all they should have no problem living together unless maybe you have 2 males, but without the presence of a female even that should be no problem, you can sex them by gently lifting the tail up and back so your looking at it's rear end if theres 2 bumps on the outside of the vent opening, thats a male. those are his hemipenes. a female will not have these bumps but more of a pouch at the base of the vent.I have a tough time getting my beardies to breed in their tank, after brumating (cooling down period) I let them loose in a 4' by 8' area enclosure and they mate like bunnies but a 55 is plenty of room to house 2 beardies, good luck
P.S. if you still have trouble let me know and ill send you some pics

Thank you for giving me a very good answer. After i read your post i indiatley seperated the 2 with a tank divider. Which will have to od until i cant get a bigger tank today.

I had no clue that they were at breeding stage. I figured that they would have to at least be over a year. Oops..

I have been feeding them alot of different things such as greens(mustard green, romaine),yellow squash(ocationally), carrots, Fruits:bananas(once a week), grapes(once a week), strawberries, and strawberries tops.

I feed them crickets usually about 6-7 times a week.

The lights that i have are only infrared, so i probly need to get a UVB light

ok to start, romaine or anything else with lettuce is not good. Neither are banana's or grapes, banana's have phosphorus that binds to calcium and blocking vital calcium intake. Grapes have oxalates, which is like phosphorus. These are the better greens to use as a main source of greens daily.

Mustard Greens
Turnip Greens
Collard Greens
Endive
Escarole

Here is a link to help you determine what Fruits and vegtables are safe to use. http://home.comcast.net/~holachapulin/Nutrition.html make shure you read the top part, it explains alot of vital information.

Also, how many crickets are you feeding to both the dragons? How much was the other one eating when it was by itself?

I'm glad that you seperated them, Your dragons could breed earlier than that. There have been dragons that laid eggs at 6 months old. Look at this http://www.dachiu.com/care/eggrates.html it actually shows the eggrate of a 5 month old dragon, that was bred on accident.
