    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

So I thought this female was just building after some good lockups, but came home after a few days away and found get mid section extremely swollen, with the last third of her underside looking very strange. There's almost a crater in the middle of her underside. What's going on here? Obstruction that's swelling?

A couple of questions to hopefully help you out. How old is she? What was her weight prior to breeding? When was her last meal?

Top pic looks like she is swollen but the other pics im scratching my head. I have never seen a crater line like that before and hopefully Josh or someone can explain. Hope all goes well!

So I think it was ovulation with the "tail suck" although I have never seen it this pronounced in a ball python. The "crater" is gone and the swelling less obvious. We shall c what happens next.

Looks like a regular ovulation to me. See if the swelling goes down in another 24-48 hours or so. I don't see anything to be alarmed about yet, especially given you've been breeding her.

I am in my first season.
I saw a similar thing happen when my woma (Aspidites) ovulated. She developed a mid body bulge that when it peaked, had her ventral scales all buckled, sunken and warped. It went away after a day or so (now she just looks gravid :D ) and her scales seem normal now.
