    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

i have a new red tail boa that i got from a person that rescues animals. and i need to know often it should eat, and if a large rat is too little or too much for it. its about 5 ft long.

anyways. some answers would be great.

I feed my 5 foot male BCI a large to extra large rat about every 10 days. If she acts like she's still hungry feed her the next size up at the next feeding.

Or you could send her to me...she is BEAUTIFUL!

She looks great! Just judging by the pic, I would agree, large rat once a week or every 10 days will do it! Just feed her a rat that is about the size of her largest section.

i just fed him/her,<(not sure) on monday, and she might still be hungry, im not sure, i open the cage and she puts her head up and i pet her head and her tounge goes in and out like cazy. think shes/he's hungry?
oh. and i haver her on aspen bedding, its free of wood oil, is this ok until i can get some reptile bark?

ok. thanx. but i still need to know if the aspen bedding will hurt her/him. theres no wood oil in it, but im not sure.

I personally prefer disposable cage liners for the ease of use.. Cypress is my second choice but aspen is safe like Cathy said:)

Wow I didnt even look sat the pics..lol. Good call man.. Yeah unless you ave a huge hot dog bun you ill need to take it out of there unless it is not plugged in..:)

Beautiful boa! Deffinately a keeper! My personal prefference would be a med-large size rat for that boa every 7days, but thats just me. I like to keep my snakes on aspen, I personally do not recomend bark, I have seen too many bags of that stuff untreated and loaded with mites and such, especially mulch.

thanx 4 all the help. i put a heat lamp in instead, i just had that rock in there cause the bulb burned out in the lamp, and were getting a cold front where i live, and i want the windows open because its been hot, so that rock was the only other source of heat i had 4 it until i could get a new bulb. i just have one more question. about how old would you say it is, judging by size (5ft)? im guessing its over a year old, maybe 2. iv had snakes before, but the seller was always able 2 tell me the age, this one the seller wasnt sure how old it was. and wats the average size 4 a male and female red tail boa? i no its big, i just cant get an average, i alwayz find a max size on websites i go to.

I would say 2-3 years old.. For the heating I would say go for a under tank heat setup or a Cobra UTH that can be put in the cage..
