    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

about 2 weeks ago i saw an add on kingsnake for "06 albino checkered garter snakes". i was interested in obtaining a male snake and gary of "herps'n'more" told me by e-mail that yes, males are available. so i quickly pay-paled my $110.00 ($60.00 for the snake, $50.00 for shipping) and was told by karen, gary's wife, that they had received my payment and would ship the snake the following tuesday, after memorial day. so far, so good. the snake arrived on wednesday, as promissed, but what i received was a tiny, scrawny, barely 4 " long albino checkered garter! right snake, wrong age! there is absolutely no possibility that this snake is more than 6-8 weeks old. i contacted "herps'n'more" about this issue and 2 days later received an e-mail from karen, telling me that "they" bought the snakes 2 month ago and were told that they were born in 06. i e-mailed back to let them know that this snake is way too small to be that old, that i would like to discuss either returning the snake at their expense or a partial refund since i would never have payed that much had i known the true age of the snake. i haven't heard a word since then. the add, by the way, is still running and i would advise everyone to stay away from this couple. they are either ripping people off or know very little about snakes, either way, they show some poor judgement and unsound business practices. thanks for letting me vent

I just looked at the ad & no way are they only 4 inches long & don't look scrawny in any way to me. I saw the ghost bull last month at a show & it & evertything else on his table looked healthy & I had considered buying it for my son but he already has too many snakes.(I wonder where he gats that from ?) lol Just my 2 cents

You're assuming the snake they sent roadie is actually one of the snakes pictured in the ad.

Roadie how about you post some pictures of the snake you received next to something for size reference.

Good idea Sam, Roadie please post a picture next to a ruler and that will clear it up real quick as to if its 4 inches or not. :yesnod:

i'll do that once i figure out how to do it. regardless, the fact that they are unwilling to even discuss the issue is bothersome. once i had the snake, and saw how small it is, i took it to a reptile shop here in town whose owner i know and trust. i wanted them to sex the snake to make sure that at least it is the right gender, since i specifically asked for a male. when they saw the snake they said it's too small to safely probe and when i told them it's supposed to be at least 6 month old they laughed. on the bright side, the little guy has eaten almost every day and already had a good shed, so presumably he's healthy.

If it's that small you should be able to pop it very easily, I would think that the petstore owner would know how if he's that good.

Anyway, it's hard to tell the size of the snakes on Kingsnake because there is nothing in the picture for reference. However, they don't have the body proportions of a newborn garter. Yearling garters are still small snakes, and if they were born later in the year could easily be 8" or less. Did you ask them about the size of the snakes or exactly how old they are when you were looking to buy them? Snakes born in December of 06 are still 06's. Plus if they were only feed on a maintenance diet, even a snake born in early to mid 06 would be smaller than one that was fed on a regular schedule.

Have you emailed them a link to this thread so that they can reply? Also any e-mails and pictures would be nice to add credibility to your claims.
