In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

5 year old male. Mean when he was a baby and still resisting being "tame".
I have a shallow cul de sac at the back of my bedroom and have his house set up there.

Thank you for the compliment. I figured it was time for him to debut on the forum. SG will be my last iguana, as they are so high maintenance.
He had more "plants" at one time but has knocked them all down except for this last survivor.
He was lounging quite comfy just before I showed up with the camera. Our relationship is still "tense", so he is a little on guard in this picture. He is always suspicious as to what I am up to.
He still has the temerity to hiss at me threateningly whenever I enter the room. There have been many times when he and I have had entire hiss and huff conversations.
I have an interesting hypothesis about iguana communication. It seems that the longer I can sustain a hiss, the sooner he stops responding. I have formed this notion that he assesses my superiority via lung capacity. That is, since I can sustain a longer and louder huff or hiss than he can, I must be bigger and stronger. Either that or I bore him with long windedness.

I don't know what this says about how I think.

I don't think there's a problem with the way you think. Seems like a good theory to me.

Now, when you start answering the phone with hisses and grunts............... Thats when I think you should start to worry. :hehe:

New green iguana

Hi peeps!

I am a newbie on here and I am new to owning a green iggy. For a long time I have thought about owning an iguana and last week my wife saw one in our local reptile store. He is about 2 years old (I think he is closer to 3 years old).
Anyway, I went to see him today and asked the store about him and his history.

He was brought up by a woman who was a stripper who got pregnant and gave them to the store as she couldnt keep him and deal with pregnancy etc.
A guy bought him and spent a month doing up a room for him only to find out his landlord wouldnt let him have it so he couldnt take him home.

I know some iguanas can take to people and you have to find one who would fit in with you so I asked the store clerk if I could hold him.
The lady got him out of the tank (it tail whipped her a bit until she stroked it then he calmed down) and passed him to me. He scrambled up onto my chest/shoulder and relaxed. As I was stroking him, he started to close his eyes and didnt feel tense. I knew we'd get along - he even liked my wife touching him.

Another store clerk came over and he went ballistic - really aggressive until that clerk walked away.

Is what I experience normal? I KNOW they are high maintainence and my wife and I have a lot of love to bring to him and time to tame him and make him feel content. Heck, we've had vicious ferrets that we tamed - and semi-wild horses that have gone on to be show horses - I know it's not the same, but it shows we dont give up easily.

We paid a deposit on him after going away to think about it and research iguana care and we'll be picking him up after we come back from holiday (about 2 weeks). We're gonna get a tank but we also have a spare room setup for him too (once he gets used to us).

Any tips for room coversions? The room is 7' x 8' and has the combi boiler in it (concealed away so he can't get in there, but it makes the room very warm too). The tank we get him will have a UV lamp, light bulb, water tub, climbing branches etc
