    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I was sitting here waiting for the tracking numbers on my new babies and started wondering. Many of you breed. How do you feel when it is time to let go of them? Do you develop an attachment to each one of them? I raise miniature horses and it is very very hard to sell one (of couse it takes 11 months of pregnancy and 3-4 months of care after for one mini). Has selling them affected the way you breed? Have you ever refused to sell to someone? Do you offer to take back an animal that is no longer wanted? Just wondering. Thanks :)

Selling

Hello, i think sometimes it's hard to let them go, which is a good thing because that means you care about the animals and not the money!!! It's easier to let one go that i aquired in a trade, but the ones i bred and raised i just make sure that they are gouing to someone who knows about the species and how to properly care for them.. My wife had a minature horse when we lived in Indiana, now we have 5 Full size ones ARGHHHHHHHH!!!!!! Have a nice day. Mike L.

and here I thought I was the only one. if I get an animal in strictly for resale, I generally don't think twice; but if it is around for a while, esp if there is something I like about it, it may end up staying (case in point, the 6 Bangka bloods sitting in there). My wife makes it worse, in some ways - she says she doesn't like the idea of selling off something that I buy and bring in here...likens it to selling one of our dogs. As for the rest of it, I have absolutely refused to sell to people - esp at shows, where you can get a little more sense of what they are about. taking them back? now that depends on the situation. If I am still working with that species, and the animal in question is healthy, but no longer wanted, I often do (in some instances, I have even bought them back). most frequently, the limiting factor there is availability of space.
I am in this solely because of my love of the animals, and the enjoyment I get out of working with them (ie: I get a kick out of raising up lil pixies and pacmans - I grow'em for awhile, sell'em and start again...but I always keep the ones I decided were pets). the breeding and sales are extra, and when it becomes an issue I stop for a while.

getting attached yep that is a problem just ask my hubby, I have a whole room of attachments LOL. Have I refused sales sure alot to kids of course they give me the run around and never have a parent verify the sale so it ends pretty quick. If I have a customer that has no clue and will not look up what they are interested in and take the time to understand the species sure I will pass on occasion. The people who complety waist my time get passed up although over the internet it is hard and you find you are deeling with the yougsters once again. However I really love what we do. Our whole family is involved, my kids love all the little critters. My little girl always says keep that one or I want that one. If one just stands out you can bet it almost always will stay with us. Being that we are a small family owned business that takes great pride in what we do it is always hard to sell of our kids that we hatch but they always seem to go to really great homes. We have alot of repeat customers that come back to see us at all the shows and keep us updated on how every one is doing and that always puts a big smile on our faces, theirs as well.
