In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I've never owned a rosy, but I'm interested to know the answers! Would you drape your rosy boas on babies, or do you put signs up to warn burglars about their presence in your house?
Please post with how many rosies you have and their ages. And, heck, post if you think locality makes a difference.

Erin B.

You should PM E2MacPets, I think he likes taking pictures of that sort of thing.

Ha ha, just kidding, all sorts of hilarity abounding at the sand boa forum. You'd be singing soprano if you tried that around a roughscale.

IF HE REALLY WANTS TO GET CRAZY I GOT A BIG FEMALE VIPER BOA THAT HE MIGHT LIKE TO MEET!! MY LA BAY PAIR ARE BOTH DOG TAME. BUT I DONT KNOW IF I EVER WOULD GO TO THAT EXTREME. HMMM SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT!

Well, who isn't nippy during feeding time? I was in Chipotle the other day and almost took a guy's hand off.

If you don't have Chipotle where you live, move.

I bought 2 Coastal Rosy Boas that I was warned were mean. It only took a week to tame them. I did once have a baby rosy that would not stop biting though. But that is not the norm.

Amazing the variation you get within species, eh? Even with their tiny little brains reptiles have something you could in some instances term 'personality'. Even if that personality involves attempting to eat humans on sight.

(It's cute when they try to eat you if they're under 6 feet)

Interesting...

I wouldn't try any of this blindfolded. My rosies are very docile. I will not go as far as to call them tame, because no animals is "tame".
Everything has teeth, and is very capable of biting.
With Rosy Boas, there is nothing scary about going toe to muzzle with one of these little critters.
Though, I'd crap my pants to handle a visvious gravid female nude. I think I wouldn't be able to father any of my own "litters" if I attempted that LOL.
Anyhow, rosies are great pets, easy husbandry requirements, very hardy, and as I hear it, fun to breed. We shall see about their breeding, mine arent quite old enough to breed. I'll update you all in 2 or 3 years when my little babies are ready to dance.
I am planing to add to my 1.1 as well.
I have 1.0 Borrego
and 0.1 San Felipe.
Should be interesting to see some of the babies she throws, they both have spectacular color.

My Hypo Whitewater female is a pretty mellow girl, although when she knows its feeding time she seems to think she is a 10 foot anaconda!!! lol Over the years I have had may rosies, all were pretty good snakes. Anyone into sands should have no troubles or worries keeping rosies...............Ken [email protected]

Yeah, My female gets very nippy around feeding time.
She never bites, just strikes out. It's all in thw wrists.
I hear ya though Ken, by the way, where have you been? 2 years as a member and only 18 posts? LOL.
What do you have right now in your collection?

Mike, well I guess I hadnt realized its been 2 years already. Time flies. I dont really post that much, by defination I guess I am a "Watcher"..lol I dont jump on the bandwagon to bash people, I can honestly say most of the people I have dealt with in this crazy hobby( for 12-13 yrs now) have been great. I have posted when I felt it was necessary to add to a positive post. Im sure nobody really cares about all this but hey, when asked, thats the response.

Hope Everyone enjoyed the "Ken Leach" bio hour on FAUNA !!!! lol Thanks for taking the time to read my post. Take Care Everyone,Ken

As I was reading that, I was thinking to myself...
He sure has a lot of male balls. How does he possibly get any type of variety when breeding.
Low and behold, you saved the females for last.
Anyhow, you're selling the female whitewater?
If you do not mind, I would love seeing pics of her, and a price.
Email me at [email protected] if she is still available. Sounds like a snake I would like to add.

I have 35 Rosys. Most are adults, a few sub adults and a couple babies. They all but three are very tame. The three biters are just that biters. They just like to bite, whether in the cage or in hand, they love to chomp when they get the chance. The other 32 are very tame, but they will also bite you if they are hungry and you reach in front of their face while in their cage. As far as I am concerned, there is no better pet snake out there.
