Back at it
September 13 I received a 16-lot of bearded dragons. Since the first day, one seemed to be very dehydrated. I spent 3 days trying to nurse the little one back to health and it passed away. I figured that it was because they were so young and he was just dehydrated. I marked it up to shipping.
Since then, three more babies have died. That's 1/4 of the animals. I keep them in 10-gallon tanks (it was 5 in one, 5 in another, and 6 in the last.) Now there is four in each one. The 3 that have died since the first little dehydrated one have been normal. Alert, healthy, eating... Then one day they don't seem to be eating as much, then they just pass away. They are plump and healthy-looking, then just cease to exist anymore.
My basking temperatures are between 98(coolest spot) and 112(hottest spot). They are fed crickets 2 times a day, as well as mixed vegetables (romain lettuce, mustard greens, apple). I mist them between 2 and 3 times a day. Once in the morning whenever the lights are first turned on and once 45 minutes before lights out.
Knowing that, what should I do? I've emailed the breeder (whom will remain nameless for now). I've explained all of this to her. The reason I did email her is because One died lastnight, and I found another dead this morning. So lastnight she got a rather lengthy email. This morning I just said "Let's update that number to 4. One died this morning". I'm really getting quite upset. I had been planning on raising most of them to keep and maybe start breeding Beardies again.
That's another point. I've bred beardies before. I've kept hatchlings. It's not like I just jumped in head first without knowing what to do.
