In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    Addendum: 01/10/2026
    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

i need some advise,please

I did a trade with someone out of MO.i received an e-mail stateing do you have any gators left-never mentioning size at all.which i did have 2 big babies left.so i said yes i do.this person,Jody Wooten, then offered me a 5-6ft burm(i think jody called it 7ft,which its not)a cbb adult female ball python, and 2 cbb very clean and feeding balls-with all of this in mind,i agreed to do a trade.we both shipped same day.i shipped airborne express, and jody usps.
yesterday airborne delivered the gators and of course usps was not on time and i did'nt get the package until today.
after Jody got the gators,i was told that they look great and are very healthy, but had expected them to be 2ft+.i did have 2footers for sale awhile ago,but they were sold and jody never once mentioned which add was being replied to.nor would i have traded 2- 2ftrs.for a norm.burm and 3 normal balls.
i e-mailed back and stated I'm sorry your dissapointed, and once i receive your animals i will see how the quality was and if i thought this person was being wronged,i would make it right.
i received the package finaly today, and the burm, other than being a little thin and shorter than i had agreed, looked pretty good, probably worth 1 of the gators.
the balls on the otherhand look like crap!!!!!!the babies are obviously wc or off a farm.1 had a tick on it and both are soo thin i'll be suprised if they make it through the night.the saposed cbb adult female is a thin subadult!its eyes are completely silver from so many layers of skin that have'nt shed off,and theres a very deep dime sized scar(completely healed)on the side, but near the anal opening-so i dont even know if theres been damage and she wont beable to breed.
i e-mailed stating i felt jody should keep 1 of the gators for the burm, andsend the other back-also stated jody should just thank me for trying to rescue the crap balls.
i got an e-mail back stating F**K you,and that if i had anything else to say i should keep it to myself.
wondering what anyone else would do here?<img src="http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='???'>?thanks

Sory to hear of your troubles, Jason. First, can you post your e-mail to him today? So we can see if the content of your e-mail to him deserved such an unjust reply.

Sorry, I hit send before I was done. I totally agree. Jody should only keep one of your gators. The other, he should return immediately. Plus pay for the return shipping both ways. Based on your version, it is obvious that he misrepresented his animals. Therefore, he has no leg to stand on. But then, there is a catch. If the care given to the Ball Python was as poor as you claim, would you want the gator back in your possession? Given the possibility of an infected and/or contaminated environment at Jody's house/business. You never know what the gator has or could already have been exposed to. Keep that in mind. Best of luck resolving this situation.

Jay....Although I understand how you feel....this particular "trade" isn't worth any more of your time and aggravation....we're not talking about a lot of money...and, who knows? Maybe you CAN bring the Balls back to "health" and THEN you'll have a good deal....but, for now, I'd just forget it and move on....
Of course....I still can't believe that some of you guys will AGREE to a same day shipping with someone you don't know??? Haven't you folks learned anything from the past threads??? If YOU offer the deal...YOU ship first....if THEY offer the deal...THEY ship first....how simple is that???
And if it's with someone I don't know....there is NO WAY I would ship first regardless....if they didn't trust my "name and reputation", I would just forget THAT deal and wait for the one that's right around the corner....I HATE HINDSIGHT!! ....Neil

Jay,,do your best to nurse those balls back to health!!!
chalk it up to a lesson learned!!! and for gods sake,,,soak or put some saline solution on that one with the bad eyes and get that old shed off its eyes!!!! its probably blind as a bat with all that crap on it!!!!   GOOD LUCK!!!!

Posting the e-mail is quite simple. Open the e-mail and read the text. Take your mouse and go to the very start of the e-mail. Left click on the first letter once and hold. Drag the mouse down or up across the entire message. By then, the entire text should be in blue. Then, right click once and hit copy. Then, where you want to post it, hit the quote tab above once. Then right click once and hit paste. Your e-mail will automatically appear. Then hit the quote tab once more. And presto!!! You have just posted an e-mail. Try to post his response e-mail as well.

Congrats on bringing sight to the ball python.  <img src="http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

Amen!!!

Jason....You don't have to tell me that you care for those gators?? That's a gimme!! It's a no-brainer!
But, the fact of the matter is....it's done, over with, kaputzky'd....I don't think you'd want them back in any case (unfortunately for them), as was said...with the Balls in the condition they're in...no telling what you'd be putting at risk....in any case....KUDOS for the eye-caps!! Watch her eat now!! ....Neil

Well think again cause I could care less what you have to say about my animals cause I know that they were in great shape. So lets just call this the end of the nasty e-mails cause I have better things to do then screw with people like you. I have lots of satisfied people that have gotten things from me so I know that you are not going to make a dent in my business and the customer base that I have. Well if you have anything else to say just save it. If you want to put me on the BOI then go ahead it wont hurt me a bit. Well I hope you have better dealings with future trades.

Well, sounds like everything you've said is correct.  The only thing is.....I hope you didn't expect Jody to send you a gator back.  The tone of your email reflected how you felt, and was right, but if you wanted something back you would have had to have been much more tactful in how you went about asking for something back.  Def. just chalk this one up and take everyone's advice about learning from this.
-Lucas Denning

I'd concur with Lucas. Whiile your email to Jody was more than justified, I wouldn't expect a warm reply  <img src="http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'>

In all seriousnes though, the fact that Jody was shipping the snakes via USPS should have thrown up a red flag. First, because it is illegal (in more than one regard). Second, the mail has been anything but reliable after 9/11.

All in all, I'd just chalk it up as a loss.

i never "actualy"expected that jody would send a gator back, and make this right-i new writting it I GOT BURNED!!
and i had NO CLUE about the postal service being involved, until after i received the tracking #...
               Jason Kiper

Jason,
I just thought by asking for advice you were asking how you could get your gator back.  My bad.
-lucas

Jason,

You both had low end animals that werent worth a whole ot of money. I am glad for that much at least.

I would probably freeze the balls off if they were in to sad a shape. As for the gators, I would just chock the whole thing up as a loss. And I would not deal with anyone that sent snakes or animals via uspoffice again. Period.

Sorry to hear that you went throught this, this business has some pretty skanky people in it.

Fred,
What if people are shipping usps for something like frogs or lizards.  That's legal isn't it?  Should be write off everyone that uses usps?
-Lucas

Jason,
I'm really sorry to hear about that, and I know how you feel, I care for every one of my critters and put alot of time and tlc into every single one of them, it doesn't matter if it's a $15 corn snake or a $1,000 animal, they are all special! I know if I were you, I would be worried to death about the future of those gators! I wish you luck with the ball pythons and hopefully you will be able to save them. As bad as the deal looks now, if you do save the snakes, you will have given them a chance at life, and if you lose them, you will always have the satisfactory of knowing you tried! I know the female ball is so glad to have those eye caps off! Good luck with the pythons and let us know if you are able to save them or not.

Jay,
I agree with Neil, chalk it up to leaned experience and cut your losses. He probably won't keep the gators so they might end up in good hands. Good luck with helping those sick herps.

For what it's worth, I live in the same area that Jody does (if I'm thinking about the same person, and I believe that I am), and I have never met her.  I did talk to her via email one time and she asked me about the corn snakes that I breed and what I would have available this year.  I told her, and asked her about the herp shop she had mentioned in a previous post.  It was in her return email that she said she did not yet have the shop, but she was working toward it.  She didn't have any animals that I would be interested in from her descriptions (no slam there, I just stick with corns), so I just forgot about it.

However, I will say that I am a member of the Southwest Missouri Herpetological Society, and I know (or know of) nearly everyone in "the business" around here.  From what I know of Jody, she is just getting started, but if she is using USPS, I'd say she's getting off on the wrong foot.

If I have the people involved here confused in some way, let me appologize in advance.  I just thought some hometown background info might be helpful to see the full picture.
